Over the past five or so days my laptop (only about 3-4 months old) has developed a habit of freezing every now and then. Usually happens when desktop is loading. Sometimes it holds for three or so hours before freezing. At first thought it only happened when I loaded Chrome to surf the internet. However, today it's been occurring more and more. Have run a virus scan, using Microsoft Security Essentials. It detected and removed a couple of trojans and one worm. Hasn't improved the problem. Running in safe mode and safe mode with Network works just fine - haven't had any problems there. Which I imagine probably means its a software problem. Maybe?

After this, I'm really stuck for things to do. Could try formatting, but I'm not in any huge rush to do that so soon after buying it. Wanting to try find some other options first. Running Windows 7.

    Try system restore.

Config panel, system, backup, and if I remember correctly the bottom one.

I think your pc is infected.

That should have been the very first thing you should have done when you got the PC. Get rid of all that junkware they put on it, and start with a fresh install. :thumb:

Heh, that was sort of my point. I'd just formatted it a few months ago.

Anyway, formatted again. It's working for now, although I haven't really pushed it that far. The interesting thing was that before I couldn't log into our flat server over the wireless, nor would it let me use my laptop as a bridge, but both now seem to be working. The only annoying thing is that I forgot to make note of my NWN2 CDKeys, so now have to wait a month or so to get them.

next time you should register them on bioware's website :p

another thing that may be happening is overheating. many laptops over time develop a dust buildup in the heatsink. The first sign is freezing, then crashing, the just shutting off and finally just not booting....keep your eyes open for these problems in the future. (not as many programs via safe mode means not as much cpu use and GENERALLY lower cpu temps...but not always.)
