I was wondering, is there any way the items in Icewind Dale 1 could all be automatically converted to IWD2 and 3rd edition rules? Wouldn't the Icewind Dale tutu converter be able to do it? Does anyone have a copy of the main exe file of the IWD1tutu mod?

There's no automatic way to do this. I've "converted" a number of IWD1 items for my Light of Selune mod. I did it by creating new items with similar stats, and using the old historical description.

It should be noted that any directly converted IWD1 weapon will be very underpowered compared to IWD2 weapons. IWD1's 2e weapons are scaled for characters and enemies that have HP totals that are far, far different than exist in IWD2. Look at most of the IWD2 weapons. They almost all have some sort of +1d6 of some sort of extra damage. OTOH, the 2e weapons in IWD1 (and the BG games) are lucky if they have +1 or +2 extra damage (aside from the extra damage from the enchantment).

Thus, converting IWD1 weapons to IWD2 requires a certain degree of adjustment to make them fit appropriately within the wide array of IWD2's 3e rules based weapons.

Thanks... I'd still like a copy of Iwd1tutu though, if anyone has it, to try and see if it can convert the items! I find that there simply aren't enough boots, helms, bracers, belts etc. in IWD2 and want to add some variety to the game. My plan is to create a separate IWD1tutu install, copy the items from the override folder into my regular IWD2 install and then ctrlaltdelete the items into the game.... Would that work? Are the inventory icons and the text descriptions stored in the .itm file, or are they stored elsewhere in the game files?

Actually, my experience is that the descriptions and names are in the TLK file. However, the technical description will almost always need changing to reflect adjustments.
