    No, it wasn't free. They had to put some effort into updating it. Lucas Arts is even going to be releasing some of their older games on Steam, and I doubt they'll be free either, and those aren't even updated other than tweaked to make sure they run on modern systems AFAIK.

    I imagine they could at least get some new business for the updated Secret of Monkey Island since they updated the graphics and added music and voiceovers to it. Some nostalgia too I'd think. Not sure if I will or not, but for $10, maybe.

    I think I have the original somewhere on my HD; I think I got the download for free when I got one of the more recent MI games a while back.

    For $10 I might buy it, even though I'll need to get a Steam account for it. I've been itching to replay the game for a while and I love the new backgrounds they've made (though I'm less keen on the Curse-style characters)

    BTA - I've still got the original floppies somewhere, although I think I lost disc #23 years ago ;)

    I had the original boxed game at one time too; I have no idea if it's still buried in a closet somewhere :)

    EDIT
    Oh, and I'm not sure that this is a Steam-only release. Some of the older stuff to be released will be, but I didn't remember Steam mentioned for this release...

    If they do a remake of MI2 then I might be interested, but this one? I do not think so. Not via Steam at least.

    It's also available on Xbox Live for 800 points... but seeing as you can only buy them in increments of 500 points, you'll be paying $12.50 for 1000 points and still have 200 points left over.

    Yeah its another Microsoft con I think, the points system makes you but a little bit more so you have to spend a little and loose out or pay a lot and buy more products to make evens with them, very enoying Bill very enoying indeed...
