Where to put 'mods' or character portraits?

I have downloaded some of the character portraits and I just can't seem to get them to be accessable in the game. Is there a specific folder I should put them in? I tried the 'characters' folder with no luck. I then created a new folder called 'portraits' with no luck. I am wondering the same thing about mods as well. If anybody could give explain it to me or give me a link to a site or post that makes it clear, I would appreciate it, bunches-lots-tons! :)

Make a directory called "Portraits" inside the game's installation directory and copy the portrait files in there. Then restart the game and you should be able to use the portraits you have in the directory.

As for mods, pretty much all of them come with readme files which explain how to install them inside the archive you'll download. For WeiDU mods, simply run the installers in the game's installation directory.

Weird... it still doesn't work. I've tried both keeping these as zip files and modifying them. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Assuming you're referring to portraits, you have to put actual portrait FILES in there, not the archives (zip/rar) containing the portraits (i.e. you need to extract the archives into the Portraits directory). The portraits also have to be the right size and format for IWD2.
