Like the one in the BG forum... still Viconia kicks ass and Valygar comes at second place... the one from ToB isn`t here due to he is a powergaming character and that this is in the SoA forum...

Keldorn Firecam rules all! With Jan Jansen on a second place.

[IMG] If you are talking about which NPC is most powerful there are only two options:
    Keldorn or Edwin.

Since I prefer the protagonist not to be a single class warrior type and I do enjoy playing a mage of some sort this means that Keldorn is practically always in my party. Edwin is always there in any evil/neutral party.

If we're not talking about most powerful NPC, then define best.
I like the Viconia romance and Korgan's attitude.

In the end there was no doubt though: Keldorn dispels magic better than any mage, his True Sight gets rid of enemy invisibility, mirror images etc. He gets the Holy Avenger. He is a great fighter who is also your best anti-mage tool. Can you ask for more?

I agree that Keldorn is a very powerful NPC.
    But isn't Jan as well?
He can dispell illusions as well with his trap detection. Becouse of his items he is the best thief in the game. And plus all he is a very capable mage(specialist mage +extra spell each level) :D . Equiped with tuigan bow or light crossbow of speed he has 3 attacks per round so he can be a formidable archer too.

But IMO his greatest weakness is uncapability to cast necromantic spells becouse he is illusionist.

[IMG] The problem with Jan is that he is a multiclass character and that is pretty bad in BG2:SoA.
(In ToB it's excellent, but this is not ToB!)

    - The highest level spells Jan can learn are 6th level. Mediocre - even a bard can learn 6th level spells.
    - Jan is useless in melee (low strength and weak HP's) and mediocre in missile combat. This gets worse as the levels increase since the THAC0 of a Thief/Mage will remain very bad.
    - Jan's HP's is very low, probably the lowest of all NPC's, even lower than Aerie because Aerie is a Cleric/Mage instead of Thief/Mage. Both of them need the Girdle of Fortitude. :)

Viconia rules. Great character, great voice, great romance, and all of this in a real kick-butt NPC. My second choice would have to be Jaheira or Minsc, though.

I'm not going to cast a vote until you say what best refers to. Do you mean which is our favorite NPC, which NPC is most powerful, best-looking, what?

Most powerful, definitely Keldorn, but I hate him. I don't really have a favorite NPC. My preferences would run towards Vicky, Aerie, and Minsc.

Because of his interesting dialogue and character. I don't care much for the more practical uses he has. (Although the spin attacks do make him a worthwihle fighter, and his Bard spells aren't too bad.)

Well, equipped with the right items, pretty much any NPC will rock the house. For instance, Nalia might at first look like crap compared to Imoen, but arm her with the Tuigan Shortbow and some decent arrows, plus maybe the Robes of Vecna and she can beat Imoen. Sure, you might say, give Imoen the same stuff and she'll be better, but, well, that's the point entirely.

    Well...my favourite?

    Aerie-ROMANCE!
    Mazzy-I like her.
    Korgan-Best Fighter
    EDWIN-Best Mage

My vote will go to Edwin!

    Hear;dalis is a great guy :D :D :D
He has 4 slots for stoneskin at lvl 14(whish is pretty soon). Each stoneskin stops 7 blows(14:2=7), 7x4=28. 28 attacks is more than an average fight lasts(even a dragon one ;) ).
Give him belt of giant strenght, blade of roses in main hand and Daakon's blade(sp?) in off hand and he will do around 25 damage per hit. +he gets bonus spells from level 1-4 becouse of that blade.
Right now he has -4 AC i'ts not much but it would be the same if he had 10 'couse heis stoneskins are superior. :)
+ He's got spins both o them are very useful especialy offensive. I gives exact thing as kai(kensai ability) +2 to hit and damage and an extra attack.

    I hope that explains why is Hear'dalis that good :) :D ;)

    EDWIN!!!!

He is so cool... If there were an Edwin ROmance, I'd get it no matter what. He is powerful, he has a cool accent, he's hot... Need I say more?
