    I noticed this a few times already: My undead take damage from Unholy Blight... and they don't get hurt by Holy Smite.:confused: Now I know these spells are funky in IWD2, because H.S. is Necromancy and U.B. is Evocation. Since undead and demons are the epitomies of evil in the game, it's weird that they get immunity to the cleric's best anti-evil spell... {undead/demons are immune to necromancy/enchantment/cold}
    But it's worse that the same undead are instead hurt by an U.B. casting. So they are just as weak against an enemies' blight:( I suspect that U.B. is treated as an ordinary area effect spell, that does magic damage regardless of alignment. If this is not the case, it would mean that the game treats them as good or neutral aligned...:skeptic: I think these spells are in urgent need of an alteration, in some mod or other.

    What alignment was the caster?? Perhaps they have the same alignment as the one who summoned them? TBH I wouldn't have a clue, as I thought they were always evil..

    [IMG] I was thinking the same thing; perhaps the caster determines their alignment. Since Animate Dead was originally intended to be an evil-only spell (probably their compensation for not being able to shift-click to heal), the designers may have overlooked that. But it feels kinda silly if my zombies and skeletons are lawful good:o
    :lol:

    Well, I've been playing an entirely EVIL party for like, the past two years, so I'm not sure about holy smite.. I can't remember many enemies focusing on my skelee's anyway :(

    why would undead be evil? if the summoner commands them to do good, they do good, if the summoner commands them to do evil, they do evil...they seem alignmentless to me (perhaps neutral as they dont really do good or evil on their own)...

    just like people different undead SHOULD be different alignments based on what their summoner demands... however...they are undead and should be damaged more by divine damage due to them being "abominations to god" right?

    [IMG] i guess you have a point, since the types of undead summons are of the mindless minion type. I always went by the assumption that undead are considered evil. They are given life by the negative energy plane, ratiate evil auras, and are summoned through necromancy (=evil magic?).
    Anyhow, the spells Holy Smite and Unholy Blight are supposed to be good/evil counterparts, but in the game they even belong to different spell schools.
    The H.S. is disappointingly poor - it doesn't even work against demons. Instead of Save Successful, or Spell Resisted, I get Is Immune...:rolleyes:
