Killing Liches

I'm having some trouble killing Elemental Lich, he seems immune to all weapons, I tried standing 3 characters round him and bashing him as soon as he appears, this takes 40 or so off him. Once he starts to cast magic I seem unable to remove his sheilds, even with spells, then he starst kicking butt. Therefore anyone got any good ideas for killing him and the rest of the liches?

 

Easy, Get one tank who can take the abuse to stand in front of him, then wait till the tank actually hits him when the protection from magic weapons runs out

one thing I've found really usefull is jumping him with a couple clerics and cast bolt of glory, sunray, false dawn.

then I felt bad...false dawn apparently doesnt bring down sanctuary...was too easy

 

My party has a cloak that can create 5 +5 darts. I give these to my Wizard Slayer, who specialises in these (all 5 weapon slots) and prevent the lich from casting anything other than his contingency rubbish. It doesnt take long to take the Elemental Lich out this way.

 

If You face A lich
Be carefull not to stutter
If all Your spells glitch
You end up in the gutter

Umm, i am sure we have talked about this many many times..but the (rather cowardly) way i kill liches is...

* to go to the one in the city gates (through the hidden door in the crooked cane), hide in shadows with a theif, run past him and pick the chest behind him, get the sword and run out. with the sword (daystar) you can cast sunray. this will either kill or seriously hurt liches/vampires. if it doesn't hurt them then you just have 2 hack them to little squidgy pieces with it. i have done this a few times and have suffered no damage to any of my party

You are playing a wizard slayer (worst kit in the game)
And with five points in darts! (by far the most useless weapons in the game!)

And you managed to kill Kangaxx!!!!!!!!!

hm.... did u beet the game with your wizard slayer? that must've been hard... u cant use healing potions!!!!!

 

Jaheira with the Spear of Withering +4. +4 poison dam. It gets through the Improved mantle AND the Stoneskin.
But to get it you have to go to Spellhold early.

 

No Ive not beat the game yet, still playing through it, but yes my main character is a wizard slayer.

Contrary to what these guides tell you, he is very cool. My entire party is made up of muscle (wizard slayer, half orc barbarian, kensai, inquisitor, swashbuckler, all except for the priest of talos) so anyway to take mages down fast is a good thing.

The only thing my party has problems with is spell casters I cant get to, and dire charm type effects. It is an experiment that is so far working, I can dish out lots of damage very fast, esp as 2 characters dual wield

 

Well you're at least a better Dart-Thrower then Val (worlds fastest dart thrower in BG1) when you have 5 slots on darts, the cloak, and bracers of archery. It can be really cool to play eith darts instead of the common slings etc and there are enough darts found in the game.

 

Found the cunning way to kill them is to surround them with traps!

 

Traps? Cunning? Perhaps, but also very, very cheesy, Ladril Leafstar.

kingius, I hope to hear more from you! How many players have a Wizard Slayer with Grand Mastery in Darts? That is very refreshing. It would have been even cooler if he wasn't part of a multiplayer party, but still very nice!

 

well i killed elemental lich with jan only level 10. When lich summoned a pit fiend i dunno how (may be i could dominated ), fiend started to attack the lich and lich to him. When lich's protection has gone, i ve sent 3 fire elementals with my staff that i ve taken from the sphere. and killed him

I don't think he said he killed Kangexx with the darts. I don't even think it's possible. I think I tried with my archer and did about 2 pts damage with each dart. I could always spawn a Kangexx and try again. The darts are the most usless in the game? Don't think so. Get the Crimson dart and that may change your mind. By far the most useless specialty is the sling.

IIRC, he isn't the fastest dart thrower in the world. He is the fastest dart thrower in the West. West of what I do not know.

And we "C" the spelling rules were not that strict at the time.

It happens quite often that the gated fiend attacks the summoner, leaving you alone. I think it's a problem with liches. IIRC, the lich by the city gates has the same problem.
