So far, (I'm only on Chapter 2), the hardest battle I've had to fight came in the Den of Seven Vales, upstairs where another party was staying. Dwarf insulted my Half-Orc heritage and wouldn't give me a chance, basing me by my appearance. I let it slide, went back downstairs, had some ale and gathered the troops up to teach this guy a lesson.

Very tough, I found for just starting out and escaping and I'm sure there will be even tougher ones as I go along. So far though, with all the places I've been and the things I've done (*SPOIL* Cemetary, Nalia's Keep, Harper Quest) and the general here and there battles, it's been the hardest one I've come across.

What about the rest of you? Without too much of a spoil (don't tell me where this stuff is) just give me a quick low down. Monster names are OK, I know all the ones in BG2 already ;)

He he, same thing :) That fight is a tough one. Moreover, one of the toughest single oponents I have faced is the lich downstairs (hidden room) in the inn in the gate district also in chapter 2. By the time my cleric casted healing spell my main was down to 25% hp.

Also the toughest group fight goes to the golems from the Hold quest also in chapter 2. I'm ready for chapter 3 now (have 40k gold saved even) just been solving the side quests since they are so much fun.

Are chapters laid out per quest or are quests laid out per chapter? IE - If you get a quest (let's say to go to Nalia's Keep) and you are on Chapter 4 at this time for whatever reason, will this quest show up in your CHAPTER 4 LOG or your CHAPTER 2 LOG? Is it based like that, or just whatever chapter you're on, that's where that quest goes?

I haven't explored the Gate area yet, just gone through it. Although, I got stuck there because the EXIT isn't at the edge of the screen like I thought it would be, so I thought I couldn't leave the city for some reason. Really had me stumped for 30 minutes or so. At most, I have explored the Waukeron(sp??) District to its max.

Good question. If I remember correctly the the quests goes to the chapter your on. One reason why I started doing the side quests is because I also got stuck on the city "exit" and thought I needed to do something else to be able to exit and travel to Nalias Keep. Also the keep quest seems to be one of the core quests in terms of the cash (and some serious exp) thats needed to start chapter 3.

The Keep is a lot of fun. Really gave me the feeling that the place was taken over, having to sneak in through the back, move around and slowly work your way around to help Nalia find everyone.

That's about where I am now. The reason I asked about the quests is for the solution, but I think I know how I'm going to lay it out now. Since IWD was very linaer, doing it by chapter to chapter wasn't bad to lay out at all. BG2 is nothing of the sort and I'm now going to do it by district and location. Whatever quests I find in that area will go under that area and so forth.

I should have never told Sorcerer I'd do a BG2 Solution for here. It's going to kill me ;)

There are so many quests you will be busy for a long time :) Also remember that some quests are chapter activated so you might need to travel back to previous area to see if anything new is available. Also to set the record straight my whole party got killed by that lich in 20 seconds. Tried it 3 different times but I'm still lvl 9 so will wait few more levels and see how it goes then.

The Red is fairly easy, if you get all the nice eq that can be found in that dungeon. Of course, you have to solo him with your best fighter, otherwise lots will die :)

Now, is that shadow dragon killable? Mmm, gotta try this...An npc said that he cannot be killed, so I didnt bother.

As for the hardest fight so far...The Beholder and his 3 smaller buddies, in the Unseen Eye quest gave me a big run for my money...had to quickload about 5-6 times to get them, and even then I ended with Yoshimo petrified...

Shadow Dragon is killable and gives 14,500xp which is funny because the Shade Lord gives you more at 25,000xp. The Shadow Dragon has no treasure, so it's only for bragging rights basically.

i had a rough time with the Tanar'ri i had to kill to get the Planar Sphere back to the Material Plane. took me 2 tries. i lost my main character the first time. the second time i used Haste, Bless, and Defensive Harmony. plus i summoned creatures for cannon fodder and still had a tough battle with it but i finally prevailed.
