[IMG] I want to make my own party through the multi-player thing and then switch it to single-player. I can't think of a good party to make though, so I'm kinda stuck.

Do any of you have a good one that you have made or a good idea. I want to give them biographies also to make the game more fun, so if you have an idea for that can you say that too. Last I want a good idea on what weapons the whole party should use.

    Thanks in advance.

Be creative, melord. There are a million different good party combos, but this works out well.

    2 warriors
    1 mage
    1 priest
    1 theif
    1 of your choice

If you have a lot of multied or dualed characters you can have a very versatile group. Um, play on extreme while you're at it, since it will be easy with a party entirely made by you. Also move it from the multiplayer save file to the single player so it's easier to pull off.

[IMG] The first time I played all the way through was with my own complete party. Can't remember the exact mix, but it went something like this:

    Male dwarf fighter (axe, warhammer)
Female half-elf ranger (longsword, longbow, two-weapon proficiency)
Male halfling cleric (flail, mace, sling)
Female half-elf thief (shortsword, dagger, shortbow)
Female elf mage (dagger, quarterstaff, sling)
Male half-elf mage-thief (shortsword, longsword, shortbow)

The mage-thief was my main character. It was a very versatile group, but I did miss it on a couple of things. Without a Paladin, couldn't use Carsomyr, and since none of the fighters were proficient in two-handed swords, I missed out on a lot of good swords. Still, as a group they pretty much kicked butt - especially my ranger-chick, who was awesome with two swords!

I found having more than one mage and more than one thief very helpful - though a second cleric might have been just as useful. One last thing though - I don't think you'll need to switch over to a single-player format. Everytime I've played with my own whole party it's been through multi-player all the way.

PS: You might want to try some other variations such as an all-dwarf or all-gnome party or something - or go the other way and have all thief-multiclasses (etc).

Always include an Archer, a cleric kit, one mage.. and one fighter... the others can be some cool multiclasses... however I would advice to play with only 4 chars... and sometimes a fifth NPC for a short time.

[IMG] Heh, do I have good party ? Just playing with it, it's almost turning to be powergamer wet-dream. Just done about all quests except for thieves and Bodhi, before going on to chapter 4. Killed both dragons withouth cheating or "cheese", party level: app 10.
If you count them all up it adds to:
    3 fighters
    2 mages
    2 clerics
    1 thief
    1 archer
Due to choice of classes or dualclasses, I play with one elf and 5 humans.
    ----------------
It started when I wanted to play with paladin, and use weapons like carsomyr because in my earlier adventures I never used it. My choice fell to undead hunter, but I didn't choose him as my main character.
    ----------------
    1. Jasy, female, elf, archer, lvl 10....base roll:
str: 18/60 (wanted to be able to use almost all bows)
    dex 19
    con 17
    int 15
    wis 15
    cha 10
Prof: 4 in short bow, 1 in L bow, 1 in L and bastard sword
No of att: 3 with tansheron's bow. Using arrows of piercing with that bow gives her a sweet thac0 of -10. other than that thac0 ranges from -4 o -10 depending on bow and arrows. She has most kills in party: 260, which is around 38%.
Short bio: Like every main char she is in search for answers, hunting Irenicus, trying to free Imoen. When fighting vampires her arrows strike every time, never missing a target. Fighting the Shadow Dragon she was the only one doing constant damage to it, hitting for over 110hp combined.
    2. Hades, male, human, paladin (undead hunter), lvl 10, roll:
    str 18/71
    dex 16
    con 18
    int 10
    wis 16
    cha 17
Thac0 1, no att 2, AC -3, hp 117, resistances: Fire 90, magic 50, magic damage 50. So even if struck by magic, it does only half of damage. Main tank. Immune to poison, charm. Armor: Red dragon scale, weapon: carsomyr.
Short bio: Raised among vampires, his father was a powerfull human fighter and mother a vampire. Evil was locked inside him by magic, and not even the most powerfull knights of Radiant Heart could detect it in him when they let him join their ranks. He was proving to be mighter than they could ever dream of, but his only purpose was to let vampires destroy Radiant Heart knights and begin their reign in the large city. On the night of attack, a lone, old woman showed in the Radiant Heart building and she emitted such power that no one tried to stop her. She went straight for the room of young paladin, locking herself inside with him. What happened next has many different stories, but everyone agrees on one thing: cold, blue light filling that room and lasting for more than 2 hours. Old woman was never seen again after that, and those that saw young paladin said he had fire instead of eyes (using Sarevok portrait). Due to him having vampire blood, he was immune to their most horrific attacks and his only mission was to destroy them all, his mother as final redemption. Her name was Bodhi.
    3. Chimaira, male, human, kensai(9)/mage(11), lawfull evil, roll:
    str 18/67
    dex 18
    con 18
    int 18
    wis 12
    cha 6
thac0 5, ac 2 (using magic gets it down to -9), dualwield katanas (Celestial and Dak'kons). Second to kill most monsters: 186, Firkraag was the biggest badass that he killed. Using portrait of that arabic looking guy (found here on sp), which suits perfectly. Used Sk to change his appearance to that of human mage, looks really nice with 2 big swords and robe.
Short bio: This warrior came from deserts where magic was something used by women only, and real men were ones wielding powerfull swords. He travelled in country looking for duels, and not once did he ever lose a battle. He earned his name because he fought like a demon, never having mercy. He was defeted only once, by a mystical female mage, Violet, and not beeing able to whitstand the humiliation of beeing beaten by woman using magic he became her slave, refusing to use his skills in fighting ever again. Against his will she forced him to become her apprentice and thought him secrets of magic, and even he never addmited it, magic turned to be apealing. Turning point came when they became lovers, allowing him to not only use magic, but to combine it with his fighting skills, providing him with such powers that he was able to kill mighty Firkraag in the epic battle.
    4. Serpent, male, human, totemic druid(12)/fighter(11), roll:
    str 18
    dex 15
    con 16
    int 11
    wis 16
    cha 15
Prof: spear 3 (in fighter, has 1 as druid too), scimitar 1 (+1 as druid), two-handed style 2. With braces of dex, ankheg plate, cloak of sewers and earth ring his ac is -5. For bigger battles I give him full plate +1 and saving grace +3 shield which boosts his ac to -10. I wanted a char that wuold use spears as his main weapon and druid fits in perfectly. Why dc ? I think druids gain too few levels, and att level 12 I have 6th level spells, so it would be waste of points to let him continue. Only problem: low hp at 63, but with that high ac, and iron skins later on, he'll be menace. Add to that healing spells and spirit animals and you have one mean bastard.
Short bio: ok, I bet I am boring you ppl too, since I am boring myself, so I'll just be brief. He was dominated by shadow druids, killed lots of ppl, became simple warrior never to speak to nature again, because he betrayed it. An incounter with Jaheira and some revenge will make him swallow his pride and become servant of nature again (obviously when he becomes lvl 13 fighter).
    5. Whisper, female, human, bounty hunter(11)/cleric(11), roll:
    str 12
    dex 18
    con 18
    int 15
    wis 18
    cha 9
AC -5, resistances fire 70, cold 50, elec 50. Does not look that impressive but with girdle of giant strenght she gets str of 19, thus beeing able to use flail of ages or hammer of thunderbolts. Thac0 goes down to 8, and when she hits (like every 3rd time) she does 15-20 dmg. Armor: darkmail, dragon helm, dragon scale shield.
Short bio: thief that became priest, will use her skills later on, but for traps finding/desarming/setting purposes only.
    6. Violet, female, human, abjurer, roll:
    str 10
    dex 18
    con 16
    int 18
    wis 18
    cha 10
She's sitting behind everyone, making all those nasty Improved Mantles just go away like they never been there in the first place. Trully a must in every party, specialised mage is somewhat more fun to play. Only major drawback: can't use stoneskin, so you have to be slightly careful to where you let her go. She killed Thaxll'ssillyia with one magic missile going through doing 5 damage :)
Short bio: yea yea, she was the one who beat Chimaira, took him as apprentice, they travel together now, and she's a badass mage.
    -------------

Omg, finally, that became longer than I intended it to be, sry ppl, but I am having a blast with this party, will probably play on hard level.
Have fun creating your party archer :)
    PHEW !!

I must say that that was a very interesting description of your party. A fun read :)

When I make a multplayer party I always go with 3 tanks, 1 cleric, 1 thief and 1 mage simple and effective.

I mainly agree with Marnix: 3 to 4 core chars and some NPCs at need, for romance or a short time - I found that most interesting.

As for combat power: IMO 4 chars are usually enough for every fight. My current party consists of a multiclassed kensai-mage (female), a human cavalier, a halfling swashbuckler and my main char's love-interst Anomen :D (poor girls  this romance really sucks :D ).

Since your party levels up faster the smaller the party is, your higher level eases combat for you towards the end, compensating your lack of manpower.

Err, Ragusa, who is Marnix? Is Headbanger Marnix?

And what you said seems right I guess. That is kind of how all my partys have been since my first game. Well, I've had a couple that weren't like that.

I'm trying to stop talking about Anomen so much so I'm not going to talk about your choice in NPCs. I get into arguments over it and break rules and get other people to break rules so I will try to stop.

  10. Silverblade Guest

I played with a multiplayer party once.
    Human Cavalier
    Human Ranger
    Dwarven Berserker
    Gnomish Cleric/Thief
    Elven Totemic Druid
    Drow Sorcerer

It's quite a good party except my druid keeps dying over and over and over again.

    BTW Marnix=Headbanger

I'd like to start a total control multi player with (for me) unusual characters:

    Human Monk
    Elven Sorcerer
    Half Elf Totemic Druid
    Human Assassin/mage
    Half Elf cleric/ranger
    Whatever Barbarian or Bard

    Anybody tried this? Other Combo's?

I haven't tried it myself, but this party would really be invincible at higher levels.

    It would consist of:
    1 sorcerer
    1 necromancer
    1 conjurer
    1 invoker
    1 illusionist
    1 Abjurer

This is kind of a themed party, with socerer as the leader, followed by his mage apprentices.

This party will be able to use all the scrolls in the game, and would be inpossible to beat once they are at higher levels.

Think about, going into battle in the game against 6 high level spellcasters, it is your worst nightmare.

    OR!

    Cleric/Ranger Half/Elf (I love those too)
Fighter Human (Dualled to Cleric at level 9)
Fighter Human (Dualled to Druid at level 9)
Fighter Human (Dualled to mage at level 10)
Fighter Human (Dualled to mage at level 9)
Thief Human (Dualled to mage at level 12)

This team is really cool, plenty of hit points for everybody, weapon
grandmastery for most of the characters and everyone of the team is a
spellcaster! (This is especially usefull in BG2, since there are A LOT of
spells and one gains XP when learning them)

The (minor) drawbacks of this team is its (relative) weakness in the
transition period but if you look closer you will see that you will always
have at least 3 strong melee fighters in the team, and you can always live
without a trap disarming thief (especially in BG2) since you can do the
quests that do not imply dungeon crawling meanwhile.

    try these:

    a.) 1 inquisitor who loves two-handed swords
1 cavalier who rocks with longsword/flail/hammer and a shield
1 undead hunter who duals axe and mace/flail

you have a guy who loves whacking magic-users, another enjoys beating dragons and demons, and another who finds pleasure in exterminating the undeads. you can name them athos, porthos, and aramis (hehehe). yea, yea, the're not the 3 musketeers, but that's the closes i can get. i hate traps and locks, so i'll probably have a thief who like longsword (or katanas) with a dagger (or shortsword), and he might as well be d'artagnan :). that gives you a couple of other guys that can be magic-users (mage and cleric) or npc should you prefer. or...

    b.) 1 berserker (curly)
    1 kensai (larry)
    1 wizard slayer (mo)

give them whatever weapon proficiencies you prefer (but make sure the combos doesn't make sense). try to give them real high str, dex, and cons, with int and wis, make it as low as possible because we're going to let minsc be the leader (har har har). customize sounds of the 3 stooges would really go well with minsc dialogues. wow! and still... that gives you a couple of slots for magic-users. :) or...

c.) create six dwarves (preferably guys).
    1 cleric (doc)
    1 bard (dopey)
    2 fighters (grumpy and happy)
1 mage (sneezy, he cast magic by sneezing)
1 druid or ranger (sleepy, you'll have to sk him & make him totally "un-immune" to sleep)

hmm, six dwarves... that's one dwarf less? yes! i forgot the seventh dwarf is holding the mouse and punching the keyboards while shouting whatever battlecries he had customized! (hi hi hi). :D

anyway, i'm just kidding, but these parties can actually give you some fun and challenges. personally, i might want to try the 3 musketeers in the future.

    * btw, parties b.) and c.) can be of any alingment.

Deathmaster, if you're going to use someone else's party strategy, you could at least give them credit. That party strategy was copied straight from Dan Simpson's Complete Baldur's Gate II & Throne of Bhaal FAQ and Walkthrough.
    http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index.php

It's the seventh one down I think.

I'm talking about the second one you gave, by the way.

A whole party of spellcasters. I've thought about, but don't know if I will do it.

Well the party I have right now is an experimental one for me. I started them in BG, they are currently in BG2 and will go on to ToB.

    Here they are:

    MC Fighter/Druid
    Wizard Slayer
    MC Ranger/Cleric
    MC Mage/Cleric
    Cavalier
    MC Mage/Thief

I wanted to see how they developed over the course of the adventure and how they compared to each other. They are also under the pressure of Insane difficulty.

I am playing through the game right now with a my own party. It is only 3 people but they sure can clean the floor. First I have a dwarven bersker that uses sheilds, axes and war hammers, Second is my Kensi mage that only use blue and white coloured spells(no offenisve spells), and my sorcerer who is the main character.

Trust me with this group you hoard all potions and rods of ressurection(sp?)
