Blow your head wide open... that wouldn't be Kurt Cobain would it?

OK, that wasn't funny (or appropriate)... I had no clue...

Because I had no clue I cheated to find out who it was... I don't think I'd heard of him/she/them before, I'll be impressed if someone gets it.

"rock/soul" band that uses steel guitar... :skeptic:

and "the artist whose cd it is recorded on" implies 'he' is a solo performer, but guested with this rock/soul band...

The lyrics make me wanna say Dave Matthews, but I have no CLUE who he'd be singing with if not his usual backup...

Your getting REALLY close jaded. Yes, Dave Matthews and a few other from DMB are the guest performers on this song, but the artist whose name this is under is not a solo performer, though his name is apart of the bands name, kinda like Dave Matthews Band.

    Edit:
Now that I think of it, the name of the band is closer to something like Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, except neither the lead members first or last name are apart of the bands name.

Well, I was hoping my grasping for something might help someone else; I haven't listened to much of DM and I know I've never heard anything he guest performed on...it just...feels like his style of lyrics.

So, to recap: a rock/soul band named in the format of "<band member> and the <nouns>" (or is it like "Monty Python's Flying Circus"? :) ) that Dave Matthews and friends sat in with for this song. :skeptic:

Someone PLEASE get it soon! I think my brain is bleeding!

(Seriously, tho TBA - this one is fascinating)

    Hehe, thanks mate.

    Thats exactly right.

Another clue: At least one of the other band members is related to the front man, and the "<nouns>" that jaded reffered to heavily references this connection, if that makes sense.

Im feeling generous at the moment, so I'll give you another: On this same album, the band also plays with Eric Clapton and Leela James

Edit: Hmmm, now that I think of it, that might make it a bit too obvious....

Ah well, I have stumped everyone for a week, so I'm happy :p

All I can think of is Sly and the Family Stone, which it isn't, but it may help someone else.

you're right, I think you did give it away, but I don't know the song. I do think I know what familial band you're talking about. Anyways, it's Memorial Day weekend, so time for a little R & R.

Hehe, you may as well reveal the name of the band. Might make something click for someone who hasnt gotten who the band is yet.

We're on 9 days now. If someone was going to get it, they would have. How about a new lyric?

Hehe, all right mate. The song was called "Love is the only way" by Robert Randolph and the Family Band featuring Dave Matthews.

I recommend their album "Colorblind" to everyone who likes good rock music as it is bloody awesome.
A real pitty they arent all that well known, as they are an extremely good band.

Anyways, if you want another from me, try this:

    "Politics.......its a drag
They put one foot in the grave, and the other on the flag"

PS: I wonder what the record is for the longest running set of lyrics in this game. Ive got some pretty weird music on my PC that would have everyone guessing for ages, even with a tonne of hints :p

I think everybody has at least one CD lying around of an artist that nobody's heard of. Stumping this game isn't that hard, making it challenging while not making it impossible is.

I've stumped the boards before -- all I need to do is go into my country vault. It's not hard and really takes the fun out of the game. But then, some people enjoy being the center of attention...

(translation: stop patting yourself on the back and just get on with the game).

Well, it's been over 24 hours since I posted my guess, and it wasn't disputed, so I can go.

You lying so low in the weeds
I bet you gonna ambush me
Youd have me down down down down on my knees
