I upgraded my computer to Vista, and am now trying to install ToEE again.

After about 5 tries, I finally got it to load without locking up, but now I am getting an error message when I insert the CD.

Anyone else out there tried to install this under Vista?

[IMG] I set the exe to XP/SP2 compatibility mode and it works fine - so far. This was a spur of the moment idea based on playing Darklands in DOS mode.
I can even pick up loot without going to combat mode!
This is on a new Pentium PC, Vista Ultimate (Technet version), TOEE installed w/o patches yet.
So far a 4 character party has only made it to ability Level 2 - about 40 minutes gameplay - so early days. There was a heavy diagonal shading on the screen when walking around the town (on max res, widescreen MAG LCD).
I wonder if there are Directx10 config options?
Vista itself crashed when I tried it without XP compatibility turned on.
To turn on XP mode, right click on the menu link to the exe and set it via one of the tabbed panels.
Oh - and the TOEE CDs are from the Atari D&D pack - but they are identical to the original TOEE release as far as I can tell. They couldn't even bother patching the new release.
On my AMD 3000 the game used to hang in the bottom levels whenever I moved the mouse to the screen edge to scroll - hopefully VISTA will fix that.
Hope this fixes the problem on your pc too.

Hi! I have ToEE and it works ok on my desktop with XP. Recently, I purchased a laptop with Windows Vista Premium and the game crashed after the Wizards Symbol. I get no error messages.... nothing. I did attempt to convert the game to Windows Service Pack 2 and have the same problem. I dunno if it is due to the Desktop Manager thats running in the background. Another thing is if I have to reinstall the game then change settings to Xp SP2 before launching the game? Cuz, when I installed it, I did not change it the first time I launched it. So I dunno if the game will constantly crash until i resolve this issue or find out how to de-activate Desktop Manager.
