[IMG] I am trying to leave either elmo and/or otis in town so I can get prince thrommel out of the temple, but when I try to leave either one of them they attack and I either have to fight them or reload the game and not take the prince. Is this a bug or something? I want to keep these as they are good, but I want to get the prince out so I can get scather. Any info would be appreciated.Thanks.

Call it a bug or scripting error, either way you've put it in a nut shell. The npc's of ToEE just plain suck. I don't know of any way around what you're going through. Me, I put the game away, after waiting over a year for it's release I find myself pretending it never got released.

Ahh never fear, the patch adresses this very problem and many others- makes it very playable and enjoyable game. In fact another patc is scheduled for release soon so I hear.

The list of fixes in the zip was truncated at Ataris end, it is actually far longer, the Atari boards do have a full list I believe.

You can download the patch here at SP, and some people reccomend the Co8 fan-fix pack as well. I haven't tried it, but I'm told it does add a lot to the game. They can also be found in the SP community as they are a hosted site

Unfortunately, I haven't observed the patch fixing this problem. It still happens to me in games started *after* the patch is installed. The problem is in the AI code. This attacking henchmen thing happens like this, as far as I can tell: When any of your henchmen take friendly fire, they become permanently hostile, although you won't know it until they are out of the party. I've reproduced this serveral times, and as long as you never hit them, accidentally or intentionally, they will stay friendly. NPCs like the Hill Giant from the temple will never be able to stay friendly, because you had to hit him at least once to get him in the party. When you release him from the party, he attacks without fail.

There is a quick dirty fix for this "problem" if you don't want to restart and be careful not to hit your henchmen. I've addressed it in my Vicks & Wedge Mod on sorcerers.net (shameless plug): You can dominate the NPCs back into your party, and hit them with another Dominate every few game days. Hey, i said it was dirty :D They will act just as if they had joined through dialogue; answering questions, giving info., etc., if they had dialogue options to begin with. The Unicorn Ring in the Mod gives you the ability to cast Charm & Dominate spells at will. By the way, hitting an enemy with a Charm or Dominate is considered an attack, and will trigger the hostile attitude.
