For my module, I'm considering upgrading to using the Community Expansion Pack, which adds numerous new creatures, placeables, and more. However, it has quite a harsh download size for people with slow modems, so I'll only upgrade if people would download it. Have you, or do you plan to, download CEP?

I'm glad someone posted on this. I'm still not sure about it. I *have* downloaded it, but having taken a good look through it, I can't believe some of the decisions these guys made.

There's a dozen different reskinned giant spiders, for example, same model, just different skin textures... which is in my opinion a waste of space.

While on the other hand, some of the stuff is brilliant, like the CODI glabrezu and the mind flayers, and the magic mouth effect.

For the mod I'm working on (and will probably never finish, hehe) I decided to stay with the small hak I made, as it already included content that the CEP didn't have.

As ArtEChoke allready pointed out there is a lot of useless stuff there such as pack-penguins (lol), but also some "must have" stuff including the placeables which are mostly useful (except the oriental stuff, yuk!) and some monsters including Courngon, Rust Monster, Glabrezu etc. But yes I'm most certanly going to download it and my modules are most certanly going to require having it.

Well, me too, I've already downloaded it, just in case someone decides to use it. I hadn't anything better to do, and now I don't have to download this huge package the moment I want to play a module with it (if ever there is one made).

But concerning your concern (I know, bad language :p ), you can insert the custom content of the CEP in your module the way you would include other custom content, and then you could fool around with it without worrying if anybody downloaded it, since they will be able to play your module, with the stuff in it, regardless of whether they have the CEP installed.

I haven't played NWN for a few months now but I'm pretty sure that as soon as I pick it up again I will download the community hakpak. I like having as much to work with as possible when it comes to making modules so I figure it can't hurt to get some more. I do have a cable connection though. Maybe if I didn't have the cable I wouldn't be so quick to download large files.

I got it. It took longer to figure out where to put the files (first-time hak user) than it did to actually get them downloaded. Gotta love cable access. ;)

I just downloaded it and I think its totally cool. There are so many creatures and placeables that I'm already thinking up endless senario's. Maybe I'll make a little island covered with giant hands and populated by little three footed, multi-armed, big lipped creatures! ....Or maybe not. But get the hak, it's pretty nifty.

I started looking into downloading the CEP today...and I was wondering what people thought of the quality of the additions?
Not simply the fact that there's new creatures, placeables, etc. And I've got a few questions (that I'm too lazy to look up, either in the Vault or CEP websites  ):

    1) Do the new creatures look like their descriptions in Forgotten Realms books/the Monster Manual?

    2) A) Do these creatures have their own soundsets?
    B) And if yes, do they match the creatures properly?

    3) Will the CEP interfere with the NWN and Expansion campaigns?

The hak packs only appear in scenarios that have been specifically made to accomodate them otherwise the files are not loaded.

    @Faerus:

    1. Some do, some don't. Since a lot of people liked how certain monsters looked in the InfinityEngine games, they included some such models, such as a replacement troll model which looks like the one in BG (which is just like the one in 2ed. Monster Manual). They also included a Stirge model which is 100x better than Bioware's one, and also looks more like the MM portrait.

    2. (a) I think only one or two creatures have their own soundsets, rest use stuff from NWN + expansions.

    (b) No idea, people's opinions are subjective anyways.

    3. Installing the CEP will not interfere with the official campaigns of any of the BioWare products.

But, someone (or some people) is planning on creating some sort of installer package which will "convert" your OC files to utilize the CEP - i.e. the new CEP weapons will be sold in Neverwinter stores, etc. Of course, that package has nothing to do with CEP, just something a user made.
