Im suprised that there are no threads on this book, considering its the second last in the series. I am currently reading book 8 of the series, but i was wondering if anyone has read number 11? if so how is it compared to the likes of 3 or 6?

It is Wheel of time, the series many many people have given up hope on. I however am too stupid and too stubborn to have done that so I actually read and reread Knife of Dreams. Simply put, it is a fall forward, I found it very enjoyable to read. It is another stagesetter and there arent many conclusions but the stagesetting in Knife of dreams is much much better than in Crossroads of twilight.

I found it strange there wasn't a thread about this book as well. It is, after all, the secont to last book in the greatest fantasy series(at least in terms of popularity and sales...). Personally, my favorite books in the series are A Crown of Swords and Lord of Chaos, but the ending in WInter's Heart is pure orgasm...!

Anyways, about Knife of Dreams, it's about 1000 times better than Crossroads of Twilight, which isn't saying you much probably... Well, in my opinion, KoD is one of the best books in the series and sets the stage for (hopefully) the ultimate climax in book 12.

Subquests are finally being finished, some as predicted, some not... The book is revolving around mainly Mat and that's never boring ;) I hoped to see more of Rand, but we do see him quite a lot...

So, if you've found WoT to be falling in quality for the past few books, I'm quite sure your spirits will be lifted by reading KoD :)

And if you by some miracle haven't heard of the fantasy series "A Song of Fire and Ice" by George R. R. Martin, then you should really look him up. I'm sitting here with the newest installment "A Feast for Crows".

    Tyrion Lannister just owns! ;)

So, the newest Jordan book came out finally. Well, I can't say I'm excited. I'll probably read it, since I have all the other books in the series, but I'll wait for the softcover edition. There is really no reason to spend $30 on it.

Whoops, I just looked on Amazon. The list price is $30, but they sell it for $18. Could it be that Jordan has lost his magic ;)

I finished Knife of Dreams today, and my biggest question: How is Jordan going to finish the saga with only one book remaining?!?!

There's still a lot to finish! Although some of the minor plotlines have been completed, I hardly think the characters are ready for Tarmon Gaidon!

Most of the central players are still scattered all over the place, and it seems like Darkfriends are thwarted at every turn - How will it all tie up? SO far the forces of the light have triumphed fairly easily even over the Forsaken - Does the Dark One have stronger forces to unleash?

Are their darkfriends close to the main protagonists that have to reveal themselves? If so, how will the last book tie up all the loose ends?!?!

Overall, I thought KNife of Dreams was pretty good, definitely better than Crossroads...It left me hungry for the next (last?) book. I just wonder if Jordan will be able to pull it off!

I fully agree Sir Bel, it doesnt seem possible to sum up all these plot lines in 1 more book, unless Jordan is going to come out and say he is thinking of carrying it on another book...

This has to be may favourite book of the series, mainly because Mat is my favourite character, and im really enjoying his plot line. You are right in saying the characters dont seem prepared for Tarmon' Gaidon, unless Rand is hiding something from us...

Im interested in seeing more of this Shadar Haran tho, it seems he is the ace in the Dark One's hand, being more uber than the Forsaken and all as we have seen in previous books.

One thing i hope Jordan includes in the last book is a full translation of The Kartheon Cycle, as it would be interesting to see if we can interpret it into all the things that Rand has done, and maybe let us see the Aiel's Prophecy of Rhuidean and the Sea Folks Prophecy of Coramoor and see if they are similar to the Kartheon Cycle or not.

I used to run out as fast as I could to get the newest Jordan book. Now, I'm willing to wait until it comes out in paperback, or to get it from the library. He dragged it out so bloody long I just can't keep caring about it as much.

It is definitely the best book I have read in the series since Crown of Swords...which isn't saying much as Crown of Swords isn't a patch on the magnificence that is The Dragon Reborn...

Ah well...Jordan's finally trying to earn his money this time around, so I'm a bit happier than I was after the release of the utter tripe that was Crossroads of Twilight.
