I have just begun Chapter 2 of Icewind Dale. So far, I've had 3 Assertion errors:

The first was in the Goblin Warrens. That was fixed by applying a slowfix patch I found somewhere.

The second time, it started happening back in Targos, before we got on the airship. This time, I had to empty the cache, temp, and tempsave folders for it to stop.

Now, it's begun again, after the airship crash, sometimes as quickly as when you leave the airship. The official patch has been installed since the first assertion errors began popping up, and I am out of ideas on what to do to fix this. Can someone help me?

I'm afraid you're out of options known to me in this case...

Have you tried a re-install? Usually that works...I'm assuming it is a software conflict or something...

If that still doesn't work...I can only imagine your video card is incompatible or something.

Sigh. I really feel like bashing line 200 of CStore.cpp already :p

I'm exiting the screen from the place where the airship crashed in the start of Chapter 2. The barbs start talking and the scene plays out, But anywhere in the following battle i get assertion errors.

Already have applyed patch and slowdown fixes. Out of luck yet again? (Icewind Dale II is serious bugged compered to other Infinity games ive played).

Most people have played the game just fine without encountering any errors... me included.

I can say things have imporved after installing drivers that came out the very same month as IWD2 (or at least the official patch).
The game still drops out to a blacked out 640x480 window sometimes, but does not crash otherwise. These drivers are marked as 41.09 and have released around november-december 2002. You can find these at guru3d dot com if you wanna test for yourselves.
