I believe all my party are supposed to wear initiate cloaks to enter the Yuan Ti temple, in chapter 5.
My Palladin refuses to put one on.
I believe without it, you get attacked immediately in the temple.
Does this matter, or is there a way to get my palladin to wear the cloak?

The paladin won't wear a cloak, but you can leave him/her at the entrance to the temple & hope noone notices them.

If they do get seen, everyone in the temple will attack your party.

Tried that. I get the `you must gather your party....` message.
This seems a bit screwy to me. Others must have managed with a palladin, but how?
This game`s getting a bit too frustrating for me!

[IMG] Bah! What self-respecting paladin would dishonor himself by sneaking around in disguise like a common rogue?!? After all, there's nothing but rabble in that temple anyway!

Paladin's are all about fighting the good fight! If you're not prepared to take the good with the bad, you should have just made a fighter!

What he means, is that no, there is no way to make your Paladin wear the cloak. You just have to go in and kill those evil Yuan-Ti.

If you didn't want to deal with the foibles of a Lawful Good character such as a Paladin, you should not have used one.

A paladin with a level in anyother class will wear the robe.

If you still want to run the sneaky part, kill the paladin yourself, run the quests and revive him/her when needed.

You can leave the paladin at the entrance on the other side. So, gather your party, venture forth, and then leave her in the doorway once you're all safely inside. The rest of your party won't be attacked unless she is seen, even if she's in the temple and undisguised. You might want to kill the guard in that room to be on the safe side.

But as BTA points out, this isn't really very good roleplaying.

Well, I`ve gone in and am in the process of killing everything in site.
Have to wait and see how things turn out.
By the way Blackthorne, how was I to know at the start of the game that a Palladin would be a dis-advantage at some stage?

Look, if you add at least 1 level from any other class to your pallie, he or she will be able to wear a robe.

How could you know? Why would you know is better question. The story has some good and some bad surprises. Good ones are for us that hate pallies. ;) :p

It's not exactly a disadvantage; it's just that lawful good characters are rather rigid.

Since a Paladin MUST be lawful good, you could have expected something like this. From the beginning, my Paladin has been doing things like turning down rewards and attacking demons instead of negotiating, so I wouldn't have been surprised if he refused to wear the cloak (had I not known about it already).

 A VERY harsh solution, I think.

BTW, why don't you just cast invisibility spells on him? When you need him, you could let him attack, anyway.

I had to kill my paladin, which I didn't feel sorry doing because he sucks and I'm never making one again, argh.
When I left him at the entrance *no* one saw him but I still got attacked. All evil parties almost always seem to be better...

There are certain quests you can do with an evil party and there are certain good-party specific quests. You don't really need all the quests to finish the game. The game adjusts itself by your average level and gives more or less XP per kill to keep it even. Quests are fun though and you can replay the game with a different kind of party. Without a palie you cannot get or use that most wonderful of blades, the Holy Avenger.
