Thief that can't steal?

    [​IMG] I've just started BG2 as a solo Bounty Hunter. The first thing I've done when I left the Irenicus' Dungeon was to buy some potions of master thivery, sleep, and try to recarcharge the wands I've found (coz I'm dualling to mage later) by selling them and then stealing'em back. Then problem arrives when I try to steal them: I always get caught even with 280 in pickpocketing.
    Only to try I go for Yoshimo, gives him the 5 potions or so, and he steal things really easy.

    What can be happening?

    Have you tried this on various merchants or just one? Where are you selling the wands?

    of you tried stealing from the merchant in Copper Coronet, you need very high Pickpocketing.

    All the others you should be able to steal from with 280

    I have tried to steal from every merchant in the Waukeen's Promenade; I've done it a lot of times and they allways caught me.

    280 is the max. pickpocket score I can get throught potions.

    Try quaffing less potions. If I remember right going above 250 or so (only 8 bits available?) causes the value to wrap around back to zero, you're 280 in pp is actually about 30.
