[IMG] Is there a cheat or something to conserve the equipment of my character in BGI when I start a new game with BGII? And the equipment of the other members of my party? Thanks for your answers

    Hey, bienvenido/a a bordo!

There is an easy way to keep your own equipment: If you press the spacebar button to pause the game during the black screen before the torture scene with Irenicus, you'll be able then to access your inventory. Drop everything on the ground. Un-pause the game, enjoy the intro, and then collect all the stuff back from the ground.

The rest of your party is not exported, so if you want to keep their inventories, you can put their stuff in your main character's inventory (if it fits) and repeat the aforementioned steps.

In any case, unless you are using some mods, you won't be seeing many of your old pals around in BG2-ToB. And you will find much better items anyway.

Colthrun's way does work. I will say that the items you find initially in BG2 won't be as good as what you finished the game with in BG1, although some of the best stuff you had in BG1 can actually be found in the first dungeon. If you do Colthrun's steps above you will, for example, have 2 Helms of Balduran from very early on.

I admit that I used it once to keep that beautiful Poisoned Dagger +2 you could buy in Beregost.

    Ah, the memories... :)

Another way around this is to start a multiplayer game and watch the intro. Now just import some characters. As long as they're not imported in the beginning, but after the intro they'll be fully equipped with everything they had in your BG game.

Colthrun: The dagger shouldn't be much harder to hide than Boo is. It's the two-handed sword and plate mail that would be really uncomfortable.

dagdha: Shadowkeeper will also cheat in any item you want to give your character (and items for your companions). Both cheats unbalance the game somewhat in the beginning.

While the items are roughly comparably but lower powered than what you would have at the end of BG1. they do not quite stack up when it comes to adding tales of the sword coast on with certain items you can get out of the quests in that. Particularly durlags tower. It is possible on a good fighter to end BG1 with a -10 AC.

The problem is that while a few of the items in Durlag's do make it into BG2 if you decide to bring them in on a character or something. That they are rather missing descriptions.

    Only items you will miss:

    Cloak of Balduran
Dagger of Venom - but you probably shouldn't waste weapon skill points on daggers in BG2

Kiel's helm and buckler - maybe, but no big loss

Ring of Holiness (I forget when you get one in BG2. Is it with the cleric's stronghold quest or the general cleric's quests so any party can get it even if your PC isn't a cleric?)

And you will need some of those arrows that act like fireballs. None are to be found in BG2. And one or more dimenson door spell scrolls. The level four spell is in BG2 but no scrolls so you can't learn it.

Gaunlets of Ogre power. You have to give up a set when up-grading a certain item.

Boots of Speed. You want as many of these as you can get!

edit: I bolded the four I couldn't live without. ;)

Yeah, you can get a Ring of Holiness in BG2, but only if you are a cleric and do the stronghold, or if you have the Multiple Stronghold mod. To me that's not a top-shelf item though, as it only gives you one more spell for level 1-4. To me that's no big deal. Fairly early on in BG2 you'll be able to cast a half dozen of those spells anyway, so to me getting one more of each isn't as important as it sounds. Of course, given that your other options (from the cleric stronghold) are complete rubbish (I believe the choices are "Armor of Faith" - which is like +2 chain mail (WTF? Clerics can wear plate) - and a staff mace, the ring is probably your best option.

I never really had much problems with having enough boots of speed. There's three or four of them in the game (including ToB), and there's even a set of armor for thieves, rangers, etc., that gives hastened movement in ToB.

The Gauntlets of Ogre Power are no big loss either (although I suppose it would help to have them early on) as they are sadly outclassed by other strength enhancing items, many of which can be found early in the game.

The one thing on that list that isn't in BG2 that would still be worth using is the Cloak of Balduran. You could wear such a cloak even if you were wearing magical armor, and in addition to the +1 AC and saves like you'd get from a Cloak of Protection +1, it also gives you +25% magic resistance, and I don't think any similar cloak usable by everyone exists in the game.

I never noticed that there were no dimension door scrolls in BG2 - probably because I never used that spell.

    Here's a nice new mod

It'll add some stuff from BG Ring of Holiness among them :D

Dimension Door can be found here.
