[IMG] to kill him first suround him with all your fighters BUT place your 2 weakest people far from him ( mages clerics) and then tell 1 of the 2 weklings to talk to the dragon. then start attaking him with fighters. he doesnt go red cause he waiting for the weak one to tslk to him... then when wek get close( 3 inches) pause.nand tell the other to go and talk to dragon. then tell the first one to go back where they started... and repaet as often as it takes......quick easy and fun!!!!!1

no cheating is where you get programs and screw with the game... this is a way around fighting... its for the " pacifists" and the weak asses.. it isnt cheating . . . .

    [IMG] You are deluding yourself.

The well known - and despised - Fake Talk tactic is cheating and I believe that at the very least the oldtimers here know how to beat a dragon (on Core Rules) even when soloing - never mind when playing with a full party - without having to resort to such disgusting exploits.

Use good ole and deadly MAGIC to fight dragons while meleeing them to keep your spellcasters safe. That's about the easiest way IMO. Lower resistance, pierce magic, greater malison, doom (cleric spell though), magic missile, lightning bolts(s) etc bring dragons down quickly. Good, honest and fair way to fight a dragon.

It's not cheating, it's bug exploit, but basically the same thing. It's crappy AI they would fix if they had enough time and money for it

How is it crappy AI? Should Firkraag initiate dialog? That would work. Should he attack on sight?

I don't think of it as a bug exploit, because it's not a bug. It's cheese.

I dunno, sounds like a distraction tactic to me... a bit too simple IMO, but that is a bug in the game. But distraction itself isn't a cheat. Heck, I've been in 20 person melees... it's a survival tactic...
but then again, that is only my opinion.

First of all you are only walking towards him and start talking when you are in front of him, so you are not doing anything. At the same time you are bashing him while he has no protections. As soon as you hit him once he will feel an enormous sting of pain so his real life reaction would be wing buffet, not just waiting until the person walking towards him is close enough to talk to him.

How is it crappy AI? Well don't you think that if you were a dragon and someone stabs a sword deep through your skin that you would attack? Even when someone is talking to you?

Distraction? How is walking towards someone distraction of three swords being stabbed deep into his body?

If you're gonna use this "technique" be my guest, everybody has the right to enjoy the game in their own way, but don't go saying that this isn't bug exploit.

[IMG] One day I decided to test a party idea. It was six archers created by me. Once a battle would start my archers would all start firing arrows, and the enemy was practically stranded were they were standing. All of the archers were elves and they each had 19 Dexterity, so they rarely missed. They each ahd a different racial enemy so they were useful in many more ares than one. I no longer use the party, I thought the game was to easy with them, but it was fun while it lasted.

Heheh, go to Weimer's and get the 'Smarter SoA Dragons' in the Easy-Of-Use mod. Then try to kill Firkraag without 'Cheating'. heheheheh...

[IMG] Hmm, I've never been able to get Finger of Death to work. But yes, this is a bug exploit, and has been discussed before.

:can proudly say he has defeated every dragon in the game without using cheese:

The fairest way to beat Firkraag, soup up your characters with party enhancing spells, weaken but not damage(preferably), then talk to him and fight. No fake talk, no taking advantage of bugs, and no cheats. Unless you come back to him when your characters are MAXed out using the best equipment, except Carsomyr.

Excuse me, but Finger of Death is *not* a bug exploit. It's a perfectly legitimate tactic, and you have to be blessed with unholy luck to get one through a dragon's ST's.

I can't believe there are still people trying to peddle fake talk as an intelligent, legitimate tactic.

I don't see how using finger of death is a cheat? It's a good spell and meant to be used. If the computer casts finger of death on you, would you be mad at him for cheating?

I don't see anyplace where it was claimed that Finger of Death was a cheat, and I certainly did not. Sorry if my post was interpreted that way. Anyway, you have to use a bunch of resistance lowering and save lowering spells on the dragon anyway to get that to work.

I agree that the "fake talk" strategy is definitely a cheat. One of these days (if I'm really bored and not playing NWN) I'll try the Finger of Death thing on Firkraag.
Does anyone realize that Firkraag isn't as tough as a red dragon in pen and paper D and D?
