I always enjoyed having Anomen in my group. It seems most people on this message board feels differently about him but I enjoyed his banter. Yeah he is to much of a goodie goodie but that is who he is. And personally I rather use him over some other characters and here is why.
He can become a grandmaster with his weapons, which no other pure breed cleric can do. He has a high str score. And when he does good in his quest his Wisdom of 16 seems to be the average score for almost all clerics.

 

Yeah, I do find him a more versatile cleric than, say, Viconia, because of his weapons abilities and strength to wear a bloody decent suit of armour without needing a belt or gloves to enhance his strength *rhe*

I agree that he's arrogant and annoying... but Aerie and Mazzy and Nalia are worse (no particular order).

*checks the votes* Hmm, since I broke the tie last night, he's been getting more favourable votes *chuckles*

 

I ALWAYS have Anomen in my party, because I think that he is really strong!

And I guess you are a lady and/or enjoy playing BG2 as one? No suprise you enjoy Anomen then!

 

I really wish you guys would quit assuming that just because someone is female she has to like Anomen. I took him for 5 mins. real time and never again.

If people like Anomen that's fine. But don't assume that all people of the female persuasion will want to 'romance' him. Please!

 

ditto Nakia (did I hear an echo?) There are plenty of romance mods out there for female PCs, including Kelsey and Tsujatha.

As a guy who occasionally plays a female PC, I've never been able to stand Annoymen. I tried the CN path of his romance (after hearing it tuned his arrogance down a bit) and all he did was b****, b****, b****. I've got a female pally running through BG1 (currently on hold as I play my Little People party) who will take him through the LG path to see if I've missed anything, but I don't hold out much hope.

 

Err sorry if I made someone angry, but I just thought that female PCs MAY enjoy his company if there are no romance mods installed. But I guess everybody prefers Kelsey or Sola or any other male mod NPC over Anomen and this is some kind of proof that Anomen is...annoying, to say the very least. But ofcourse, there are dark rumors that some people actually enjoy Jan's horribly long and aimless banters, so it will not suprise me if there are real Anomen lovers. Me? I am trying to stay neutral in this case as I never actualy played with him for too long, and never tried the romance. And I hate prejudice. I can give him a try with a female PC romancing him, but Fel says he is annoying even then...

 

@Silverstar .. I'll forgive you this time.

I'm sure as a member of a party he can develop nicely but romantic interest? Not for me. But then I'm in love with Sarevok. I know he is the PC's half-brother but he isn't mine. Oh well.

At one time or another I have taken all the orginal NPC's along and they all develop quite well.

 

I do not like Anomen.
If I have to chose between him and no partner, I prefer to stay alone.

No, the only romancable NPC I would take is Viconia.

 

He can be annoying, but I like his storyline. I think he's an interesting character. And he IS tough.

I really like his dialogues with Keldorn and Jan.

 

I like him. As both an NPC and as a character statwise etc.

But hopeless RPer who often adds her own conversations along the way while playing.

Wonder if a minor alteration mod would be popular for him

 

Of the two Radiant Heart goody-two-shoes I find Ano more tolerable. Unlike Keldorn who always does the right thing so help him Torm, Ano's arrogance makes him a more interesting person. I find it ironic in a way that a person is so full of himself and he's just a lowly squire, hardly more than a stable boy, and clearly has no clue of what's really going on and what he's supposed to do.

Whereas Korgan's boasts of his exploits as a ruthless mercenary might just be close enough to what has happened, you can be pretty sure that Anomen's tales are figments and half-truths he's made up so that he could feel better about himself. On the inside he's just a hurt little puppy.

 

Well I voted for Anomen. It's because he is so arrogant and proud that makes him so funny. He doesn't get it when Solaufein tries to hint at the fact that Anomen dosen't suffer from humility or modesty etc. Instead he takes it all as a compliment. Poor Solaufein! Anyway, I prefer him as a cleric to Aerie, but I haven't really had Viconia or Jaheria in my party for too long, so I wouldn't know how he compares to them.
Plus I feel sorry for him. Can you imagine having a "father" like his? He didn't even approve of Anomen's dream to join the Order of the Most Radiant Heart!

 

Jaheira's great as a tank, and those higher level druid spells are very convenient, especially against mages.

Viconia's main strength over the other clerics is her magic resistance, since with the right items you can raise it to 100%.

Anomen's better constitution gives him some advantages, but since you might not want to go mélee with clerics without any buffs it doesn't make that big a difference. His main strength is his ability in his usage of weapons; as dual-classed fighter he's more advanced in his proficiencies.

As personalities go I like Viconia the most, then Jaheira, then Ano. This might be because Viccy and Jaheira are already familiar from bg, so I usually have a longer history with them.

I find Anomen Trying at best. I use him on occassion because I haven't downloaded any mods for when I play a female NPC. But I find unless I plan for him specifically either

A) He's not a good enough fighter no matter what you do to him. The Cleric stuff is holding him back.

or

B)He sucks majorly for me as a Cleric which sometimes he is the only one. The Only way to Counter this is to turn him to his Lawful Good Version and give him a rather decent set of extra spells and the like. Even Aerie does better than him without real planning.

 

I usualy use him because he can take the damage and you get him early on but I put him in the front and he usually gets killed off and I never care much. i just pick up his stuff and go my merry way.

He just plain wines to much!!

 

He's not the BEST cleric there is. And to be in my party, he'd sure have to be the best damn cleric there is so I tolerate his arrogant personality...

Viconia is so much better, or even the druids in the game...

 

I agree with Faraaz here.

Viconia may not have a lot of power but as a Priest/cleric. She blows Anomen out of the water. You can only top her with a PC. Specially after you start equipping her with things like the holy ring. Massive plate mails, and a strength increasing item(And complaining about this to me is just ludacris. Unless your obsessed with selling them. Between the tanks and the number of these there are. It's easy to put one on her.)

At higher level if you insist on dual wielding. She's got real powerful with the typical Flail of Ages and Crom Faeyr with little real effort. Even despite her lower constitution. But I find that unless your going insane and using her to tank that she is powerful just with the Flail of Ages. letting you take one of your real tanks to Truely frightening proportions if they are dual wielding instead of using two handed weapons.
