I have big toruble with Minsc. He gets easily berserked in the middle of fights! When we are surrounded by too many foes, (and believe me it happens ocasionaly with all hard modes I have)he gets berserk; but I do not want him to be! (I don't have Aerie BTW)We were ambushed by lots of DevilShades and lesser Shadowythings, he went berserk all of a sudden and started pounding my innocent kensai! And boy, he hurts! He dualwields CromFaeyr+5 and FlailofAges+4, he did 60 damage with each hit to my kensai(I play on insane); and slowed him down! Needless to say, it is SOO annoying!

What casues this? Is this a bug or what is supposed to happen? But it happens often and puts the party in grave danger even the fights are relatively easy.

How can I prevent him from berserking? Is it a moralefailure? My PC has 20CHA, doesn't it suppposed to prevent moralefailures? Which spells/itemas can protect from this? And; once he is berserked, how can I cure it? I thought restoration may work but it doesn't. Can dispel magic work?

Please help me thank you all in advance!

I'm not sure if it'll work but you might be able to change his affects in shadowkeep or if it is automatic and uses his beserk from his special abilities you could just delete them if you want to (again in Shadowkeeper).

I think it is a form of morale failure. It should wear off after a few seconds, though if he's carrying both Crom Faeyr and the Flail of Ages, it could be damaging in the meantime. If Keldorn is around, he can talk Minsc down, so to speak.

To be honest, I haven't seen Minsc's original berserk for a while because I like to play with the Berserker Minsc mod that gives him a unique ranger berserker kit that is more similar to the fighter berserker (available here on Sorcerer's Place, http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_editors2.php ). So I might not be the best person to ask.

Have you tried casting Remove Fear before hand? IIRC, this helps prevent morale failure and berserk.

Unless you berserk Minsc yourself, it's from morale failure. Also happens when he's really low on HP. I saw it plenty of times in BG1. Cast the Remove/Resist Fear spells or use Mazzy's Courage ability.

[IMG] Do you have Nalia or Aerie in your party?

If either is his Witch he'll beserk when she is injured or dead.

Umm I guessed it was moralefailure too, it happens whenever we are outnumbered by the enemies. BUT even he is in good shape and enemies are weak (but there are many of them) he berserks often and he becomes much; much dangerous than the actual enemy!

I do not have Nally or Aerie, so they are not the problem.

OK; I will try Remove Fear; hope it works. If nothing, CTRL+R may be innocent if he is not injured greatly. Thanks.

[IMG] Iirc, morale failure cannot be cured by Ctrl+R

So remove fear may be only choice.

Keldorn only initiates a conversation with Minsc as the berserker rage expires -- it's just phrased to sound like Keldorn is talking him down. I've never seen the rage end any sooner with or without Keldorn.

When Minsc goes into his rage MOVE AWAY. He attacks the closest thing to him -- just make sure you're further from him than the bad guys.

Can Nalia really be his witch too? Despite all the different combos I've played, I don't think I've ever had a party with Minsc and Nalia without Aerie.

I don't think Nalia can become Minsc's witch. The reason Aerie can is to up her "cuteness factor".

    [IMG] my mistake :xx:

Looked it up, Nalia can't be his witch. I think in the walkthrough I have it mentioned Nalia being his witch.

Shame Minsc doesn't ask other casters like Nalia or Imoen.

He asks Aerie because she's kind to him. Nalia doesn't need a protector, as she's a pretty big girl anyway (STR 14), plus she already has a castle and her own guards.
