Isn't there a +5 bow in ToB? I think it's called Tarlash? It's a base +4 bow but upgradable to +5 with the Bowstring of Gond? However, that being said, I think it's the actual arrow, and not to bow itself that is requried to hit certain creatures. There are +3 arrows in ToB, and I think Arrows of Piercing are considered +4 weapons (I know they are +4 to hit), and those combined should be enough to handle 99% of the stuff in the game.

I don't know. Called Shot, Critical Hit, Greater Whirlwind added with the Boots of Speed and some other items mentioned in this thread...

I dare say you might be able to take out a dragon or two by yourself. Maybe even the Big Bad, with some luck and practise.

Tansheron's Bow also shoots +3 projectiles, leaving only two enemies in all of SoA whom you'll need to spend those piercing arrows on. In ToB there are only 3 such enemies, IIRC.

what I had fun with after finishing ToB with my Archer was restarting SoA with him for abuse!

Try a HUGE horde of orcs, and just your archer...

Do a Greater Deathblow and hit about 4 of them first round of it, killing all of them...

Second round, do a GWA and hit ten more, each one dying instantly from the Deathblow

Then I got bored of having such strength...

But the first time through was amazing, with my archer being able to take things out singlehandedly for even the early game

And his name was Duryn, btw...

Soloing an archer would, I presume, be fun, because it would be a challange.
Remeber that archers are the ranged version of Kensai. Archers, like kensai, can do ridiculous amounts of damage. The disadvantage of Kensai, a high AC, is not found as a problem for the archer. Archers can a.) wear studded leather armour and b.) stay back from the fighting enough to not get attacked, so their AC doesn't even matter much. But SOLOING an archer, well that would be interesting. :)
