Dunno about the rest of you, but when i went through all the effort to get the Unit, i was incredibly annoyed. It's rubbish! Sure, the armour iis nice (AC -10, isnt it?) but apart from that, the weapons are terrible. Since you have to go through 2 games and an expansion to get it, i'd hoped that it would be worth the effort, but no. Have i overlooked something?

But i will admit that the petrified anventurers are cool.

It is a gag, it is not meant to be used except for fun. I also think it is quite powerful if you would like to toy around. I slaughtered the entire oasis thingy with it.

It's a bit of fun, however, I dont see it as a serious item. It's too big to go through doorways etc, and it gets shredded in the final fight. I guess it's up to individuals as to whether they want to use it as serious armour.

The armor is excellent, and way overpowered. AC of -10, IIRC, is supposed to be the lowest possible AC in 2E rules. Its only disadvantage is that you cannot fit through doorways, and it's pretty simple to just remove it and put it back on afterwards (I admit the golem look is pretty funky).

The weapon, I thought, was nearly useless. Excellent rate of fire, true, but the damage is so low that a warrior with a bow or crossbow will do far more damage per round.

The gag value was pretty high though. Getting the Golden Pantaloons in BG1 was funny, but the Bronze underwear sequence was hilarious.

If I'm playing semi-evil (and therefore have the Silver Pantaloons), I always do this quest for laughs.

It is just a pretty good worked out prank of the developers, but i found it a good item, played the rest of the game with it.

IIRC the lowest possible AC is -30 which i reached with a blade, 2** in single weapon, best armour and armour class modifying items, defensively spinning while singing the enhanced bard song. Untouchable

Actually the lowest I ever got was with a Swashbuckler and the Big Metal Armor. It was -24, and theoretically it should have been lower, so I think this is the lowest.

It has to be horrible if someone creates an account and uses his first post to say that. :D

Heheh, well I figured since IPlay is down now it might be good to register here, as a place to promote IE mods and stuff. Since it's a pretty big community here :)

Though yes, coincidentally it was my first post. But really, the BMU is awful. And this is coming from someone who thinks that the Spectator and Bondari Reloads are pretty funny.
