Why do I play a good party? Because my character is a paladin. He does good things because he does.

Why do I play an evil party? Because my character is an assassin and he murders people.

Why do I play a neutral party? Because my character is a druid and I just love "balance".

C'mon! people play their style because they want to have fun or see what the game comes up with in the different situations. At least that is how I see it.

[IMG] my first party was all good except for jaheira.
    Me(fighter)
    Minsc
    Jaheira
    Aeire(Romnce)
    Imoen
    Nalia

it worked fine. i almost always play Lawful Good, but the occasional Nutral goos or lawful nutral comes in handy for bards and Druids.
and its easier to get XP while getting a higher rep than getting it while losing rep.

Why would anyone want to play an evil party- I physically couldn't kill any non-evil character that doesn't attack you. I always reload if I accidentally kill any non-evil, non-attacking characters because I cannot bear the guilt that comes with it (does anyone else experience that, or is it just me?)

I am really sick of muppets who think it's COOL to be evil. I'd never play through as a pally, but i'm normally some kind of dual/multi class chaotic good magic user.

I've always played a good party. Killing everything in sight is just plain annoying. You get less EXP in the long run, too. Keldorn is a really great fighter. Aeris flirted too much it got sickly annoying, 'Oh! Look at the sunset'. I kept wishing I could tell her I was romancing Anomen, not her. lol... Jaheira never had anything nice to say. 0.o; I eventually kicked her out so I could have Keldorn. Nymphs die easily, so the thought of not having Summon Woodland Beings didn't bother me too much. I kept wanting to kill Edwin every time I talked to him. Heheeheheh

[IMG] I prefer running good parties over the evil parties. The adoring masses cheering for you when you enter the town. Smiting the vile, evil scum, sending their wretched souls back to the Abyss. I ususally run a paladin that won't even consider having an evil person in the party.

    *Spoilers*

Alright, well, not to be picky, but, why does everyone seem to think that evil= Kill everything in sight? Now, granted, the characters in the Baldurs Gate series aren't the best representation of evil, but, Sarevok had *very* evil intentions, but not once did he go around and slaughter everyone. Heck, everything he did was carefully planned out; the masses were even cheering for him (if you count Baldurs Gate, at least). Irenicus? The only time me mass-killed anyone is right at the beginning of the game. Some of the NPC's? Korgan, while I swear is more of a Chaotic Neutral/Good, doesn't go around killing people, and only got into an 'arugment' with his previous group because blades were drawn in evil intent already, and such. Viconia? She's more a victim of circumstance and such, fighting off the teachings of her people and trying to become something else. Edwin? I always considered his problem to be more arrogance and manipulative schemes than pure evil... and again, remember where he comes from. Again, granted, people think it's "cool" to be evil nowadays, but there's a big difference between the wannabe-mysterious types, the calculating-victim-of-circumstance types, and the braindead ruffians, the latter of which some of you seem to think is the incarnation of evil. Bleh, this was long-winded, and I just woke up so I'm sure my grammar is horrid, but, I'm sure everyone sees what I'm trying to say.

    Excellent point Gray
I was just going to post something along those lines when I got to your post.
Just because you are evil does not mean you have to just randomly slaughter everyone. Many evil people throughout history enjoyed good reputations and some never even killed anyone.
As an example look at the serial killer Ted Bundy
in the United States. He was a well respected
business man before his crimes of murder were discovered.
As an extreme example look at Adolph Hitler before WWII he had a great reputation as a leader
even took germany out of a great depression, and while he ordered the slaughter of millions I dont beleive he ever killed anyone himself.
I did try to play evil once and it seemed the game just wasnt geared that way though. However I do love the evil npcs more I think Korgan is just the best.
I do however tend to have more fun when I play good.

I have always played the good guy party. It seems natural considering the plot, and the fact that the rest of the Bhaalspawn are against you, not to mention everyone seems to ask you for help (side quests).
Admittedly you can take the evil path on some quests, but most are generally for good purposes.

    Her Ye Gray :D
this may be a bit of topic, but anyway. Here goes...

I agree.. Most CE persons for instance(maby not in BG but elsvere, other RPG ore even REAL life) are often realy intligent ppl that hides thir intensions and evil actions. You can do much more when ppl dont know that you "climb up the stairs" in an evil manner. Just look at Hitler he got to power a lawful way, you think ppl had voted for him if they knew he would lead them in an all out war and massakre. Lots of other ppl out there too look at.
And in RPG no evil priest with his mind in place would go around the streets murder ppl and kry out that they worship an evil god. No, even their Temples are often hidden.

    My conclution
CN is more the person to go around to kill ppl. Ore MAD(CN?!?) CE persons

[And now, right after I have posted this I see two posts over me much of the same that I have said... figures :/]

Actually, I'd consider people like Hitler and Bundy to be more LE than anything.

Chaotic Evil people are the prolific mass murderers and such, the psychopaths. Using historical figures for chaotic evil, maybe Jack the Ripper or Jeffery Daumer(sp) would be more along the lines of chaotic evil.

With all owed respect, and to all you one-sided gamers out there ...

Why are you limiting yourselves to just good or just evil?

The replayability of BG2 is enchanced considerably when you try BOTH sides of the coin.

I routinely alternate between finishing with a good guy and with a bad guy.

Part of the replayability is discovering the complicated interactions between a whole new set of characters.

    My good party:

    * myself, elf fighter/mage
    Keldorn
    Anomen
    Jaheira
    Minsc
    Imoen

    My evil party:

    * myself, half-elf fighter/thief
    Korgan
Jaheira, one of the upsides to 'neutral' characters (Jaheira leaves me in doubt though) is they can fitted into either a good or an evil party.
    Viconia
    HaerDalis'
    Edwin

The evil players are just boring and annoying, usually, I have them killed when they get unbearable
