I don't know if anyone knew this but there is a story with an evil drizzt, it may not be RAS but it comes pretty close.
The story 'the reality of fear' one of david pontiers stories about artemis entrerie paints drizzt as evil.
You see by magical means good drizzt is sent back to menzoberranzan in a different reality where he never left and stayed.
While that evil drizzt is being send to the surface to do battle with artemis

I know it's not completely accurate and the impersonation of cattie-brie sucks but it is good fun to read and evil drizzt rules in the drow city!

I've read that one... Everything written by Dave Pontier rocks...

Yeah, it's scary to see how Drizzt could have turned out... Very scary indeed.

Why do you wan't to kill Drizzt, he's a nice person, unless you piss him off! I think that all of you out there just hate him because he's black, or blue, I can't tell! You racists! Begone from the forgotten realms, and take the hate with you!

Look, if you want to keep the items simply import them into multiplayer. It only works after you've started the game though, but it works.

Artemis Entreri is the baddest villain of all time, he is one bad m*therf*cker
so everyone likes him (he is just plain cool)

he stars in the icewind dale trilogy and most of the books after that!

[IMG] If you grap Drizzt's stuff, then dump it into a container for awhile, do you get to keep it, or does that guy come as soon as you take it out?

He'll take it either way. Nice try.

However, that trick can be modified so that it will work. Stash all of the items taken from his friends into a container except one. Whenever he comes, he'll take the one item. He will not come back again, ever. Use the rest of his items with impunity.

Rastor. I've tried to do this and it failed. Which item did you give to Malchor so that he stays away?

    Cheers

Just for the record, whoever stated that Drizzt or his party couldn't defeat a dragon, Drizzt and Wulfgar do just that in one of the Icewind Dale books I believe. That's how Drizzt gets his scimitar Icingdeath I think. As far as a comparison between Tolkien and Salvatore goes though, there really can't be any. Tolkien created the genre basically and because of that all fantasy books get compared in an unfair manner to his. Mel Odom, R. A. Salvatore, Ed Greenwood and the other people who helped flesh out the Forgotten Realms are all great authors who have done some great work. Just because they aren't Tolkien doesn't mean they suck. I think we should all stop trying to compare things to Tolkien or at least make fair literary comparsions with things to back them up. As I stated earlier, Tolkien created the genre but the writers of today help to further it.

I for myself enjoyed the forgotten realms novels more then the lord of the rings, I think i'm the only one out there who finds the movie better then the book.

The lord of the rings books are 20 pages interesting and then the next 20 pages is about landscape and culture and so, I mean its nice to write about the world you created but spread it out in a few books like the forgotten realms, putting it in one book is just dreadful and boring I think.

Am I the only one who thinks like this or am I upsetting a lot of Tolkien fans.

It all depends on personal taste really. I guess that Salvatore is a great author, I may actually check out some of the books. However, Tolkien was not an author on a narrow sense. He was a scholar, philologist actually, and he wrote his stories to reflect his scholarly work in linguistics. I don't think that any of the other fantasy writers can claim to have had such an extensive background in linguistics or old English. Perhaps.

Rastor. Thanks, for that I'll try it out.

    Cheers.

Yes, Tolkien was a scholar. He was an English/writing teacher at Oxford. The man was brilliant, there is no denying that. What I am saying is that, while Tolkien was a very smart man and a fantastic writer, it shouldn't take away from the writers of today. The writers of are also good for the most part. There are always a few exceptions in everything. But these men and women today have to be good writers. Look at how much they have to go up against? There are a lot more people trying to write than are ever actually successful at it. Myself for instance, though I still have a long time left to write seeing as how I'm only 16 and actually working on my first real serious story. One day I may get my time, I may not. I'm really not sure. They also have to go up against T.V. and things like that. There aren't as many people reading as there used to be. Then, if they manage to do all of that, they have to overcome constant negative criticism from someone who doesn't like any of their work just because a specific character/characters/place/thing they created. The writers of today are good for the most part as I said earlier. They aren't trying to beat Tolkien out I'm sure. I don't know of a Fantasy writer yet who wasn't influenced themself by Tolkien's work. They're just trying to take what Tolkien has given and put a new spin on it.

I really hate the poor excuse the designers of the game made up so Drizzt can annoy you- Ooooh Noooo, Bruenor lost his pink hammer.... since when has Bruenor even wielded a hammer anyway??
And why is Drizzt level 15, he should be 16.
You get the impression that the designers havent read the books at all man, I hate Drizzt for that...

hey 46thgalaxy, drizzt and wolfgar arent real. infact, they are fake. REALLY fake. so are dragons. Whereas, if you are talking about the game, i do happen to have fircraag and Nix***dnmfa whatevers (shadow dragon) scale armour, and i used this to my advantage when i killed drizzt with relish.
    And I mean With Relish.

going slightly off topic, most ideas that have been put into todays fantasy books are just a bastardisation of the places and names that tolkien created. Even Baldurs gate did it, and i am sure that some one i know can come in and supplement these names. I agree, we shouldnt compare everything to tolkien, but everythinig today is a comparison to others. We, at least in Australia, compare alot of tings, like our cricketers to Don Bradman (look it up) and horses to Phar Lap. Its tradition. Anyway, i apologize for this slight off track ramble.

[IMG] i killed drizzt, but he is still a cool chareceter. those of you with a "buring hatred" need to:
    1. go get some gold bond
    2. get a life he i s a FICTIONAL charecter. there are too many people who actually EXIST that deserve hate for you guys to get all riled up about someone from a FANTASY NOVEL! ;)

that is really hypocritical, war999. U said yourself that he is cool, so who doesnt have a life??? The fact that you like him must mean that you have read the books, and the books are a real joke once you have read GOOD fantasy books like George RR Martin, Kate Eliot and Robin Hobb.

Get a life man, get out there, hate those people that need it, but unless you do something about it, dont jump at our throats with accusations.
