Level 10 so you get the most outta your swashbuckler and i think you can still reach level 16 as a mage if you dual at 10.

Shadowkeeper does not tell the XP needed to attain each level, but the tables in the back of the manual do.

If you have ToB installed which essentially means you can reach ridiculous levels....you might consider waiting till lvl 15 to dual over. I know its hard as heck to wait that long and it seems like it takes forever to reactivate the thief skills too, but you really do gain substantial benefits. You will have another +1 to hit and damage and another +1 to your armor class. Your THACO will improve a few more points and your will be a first rate thief in 4 skills instead of 2. You will also get another weapon proficieny star over what you get if you dual at 10th. You will hit max level as a wizard at 28th instead of 31st.

If you don't have ToB installed, then I say dual at 12th for the extra few points of thief skills and the extra weapon proficiency star. Dual over at 10th just doesn't make a very good thief.

[IMG] Dualing at lvl-12 sounds not too bad - go for it.

Anyway: I recommend *not* to use SK to cut off your levels. The reason is that SK will not change the hp your char earned or the weapon skills, THACO etc. when you do so. So when you just cut off your levels back to ten you will create an *cheat* character.
Dual at lvl-12, your char's a rougue so you won't waste too much xp that way. And if you insist to dual at lvl-10, better load an old savegame.

Im doing the same thing, playing a swashbuckler and planning to dual to a mage.

Dualing at 10 gives you very quick access to both your classes but I would vie against it.
steal as much scrolls as you can and keep them at your thief guild. dual at 15 and then go study!
If you see to it that you are the only one standing when you learn the scrolls you will hoard an enormous amoount of XP. then get yourself one of the NPC mages to learn duplicate scrolls for extra spice.

seen in the scope of shadows of amn dualing at 15 is hard but in the long run you woun´t regret it.

Ok thank you all I'm gonna go with dualing right now seeing as I dont Have ToB. One thing I dont like is that I cant use my Black Dragon Scale without disabling my wizard spells. 2 more questions hehe
    1.What armor should I use/try to get?

2.How to get through a dungeon (when my thieves keep calling me back to the guildhouse.)
    Thx again

For your char the elven chains seem perfect ... anyway - I don't know a way to find any before you enter the underdark playing *good* aligned.
Mr. Alibakar in trademeet and Aran Linvail both have elven chains and iirc, when you do the Viccy romance, there is another drow chain (daylight resistant) wearable by evil chars only. Great drow chains can be found in the underdark and finally (too late if you ask me) you will find the bladesinger +4 elven chainmail.
I think that a good mage robe, AC bracers and a ring/ cloak of defence will help you till you find good armor later.

As for the thieves guild: I found it all right to be there within 36 hours, I never had problems that way.

As Ragusa said, elven chain is ok, but be advised that carries a substantial penalty to your thief skills. To suffer no penalties and even gain a few points bonus, wear no armor. Don any robe you like, and use some good bracers...like the ones in Adventurer's Mart shop.

As I tried out it is possible to get the elven chain from Mr. Alibakar in trademeet without rep-loss by retrieving it to the opposite family (that's how I did it).

Potions help to overcome the thieving ability penalty when wearing elven chain. So I agree that having a good robe is a good choice. Anyway - check the link below - there you'll find a table listing the armor penalties on thieving abilities.
