    Well, I went into Marlowe's house to do his quest, and there was two of him. I thought this was weird, so I talked to both and found out they said the exact same things. So I did what any intrepid adventurer would do. I killed one.

    Now I have a problem. When I went to speak to the lich in the Cave of the Dead, he tells me that I have killed Marlowe. But there is still one Marlowe left. I cannot reload because the Autosaves have already saved over and I have gone over my quick save.

    How do I fix this? Or am I destined to just take the roleplay and experiance loss and keep going?

    I had same problem... but only different person, in different place. I had to Pheare. I was like ??????????????????????????? WTF?!
    So I killed one of them(Just like you did) and when I've went to temple Pheare wasn't there which means I couldnt finish the mission(Silver dragon mission) Well.. so I just reloaded and decided not to kill any of those 2 Pheares...

    Is there any way to get that lich to realize there still is a Marlowe?

    There's probably a way to change a variable via the CLUA console that restores Marlowe to life but I don't know the code for it. Maybe if you open the game with Shadowkeeper and search for Marlowe (or the lich) it might come up.

    Keep in mind that the game adds/changes variables when certain actions trigger updates in the variables. Regardless of how many Marlowes there are, if you kill any of them, the variable should be written that he is dead. In other words, don't do to one Marlowe/Phaere what you would not do to all Marlowes/Phaeres.

    Well I know that now, but is there anyway to fix it?

    Try david w's suggestion. You might also use Near Infinity to find out precisely what variable you have to alter.

    Actually, you really can't alter a variable. The game doesn't use globals to determine if a character is dead or not.

    @Rastor

    Care to elaborate? Is there a way to do it?

    There's obviously *some* way to do it. Whenever you speak to the lich, the game must run some kind of check to see if Marlowe is alive or not. All you need to do is find whatever it checks and reset it to its initial value.

    A lot easier said than done unfortunately.

    No idea or I've have said. But there are enough people on these boards who know about this sort of thing to point you in the right direction.

    The game checks the Death variable for the NPC. There's no way to change that (well, you could probably do it by hex-editing, but that's a pain).

    The following is :yot: :

    @ davidw - I think Drasskull was referring to the TIP thread, which, because it was closed, he couldn't reply to there, so he's doing so here.

    And please, everyone, don't follow in my footsteps and continue with more off-topic posts relating to this matter. :D
