hello i was wondering if anyone knows why the dex str con intel books form bg1 workin bg2 and tofb..but the wisdom char book s dont!
when i create the wisdom char books they are made BUt they wont fit into any of the three slots you have to use em.
also one of the book when you take it in and out of one of the slots rolls up into a scroll..odd.

has any one exsperianced this before or even tride it ? and is there anyway to fix it so the 2 books work properly? thnaks ...drake

Well...firstly, I don't think you should be able to use those books in BG2, because they are only meant for BG1. But, if you insist on using them, I think you can find another set of books (check Shadowkeeper) which has an alternate version which works. If not...you might as well just Shadowkeeper it. Its not like you're going to legitimately acquire those books in BG2 anyway. :p

Go to www.mud-master.com I think is the link. :) If you're going to use Shadowkeeper then you may as well use that to increase stats directly rather than messing with the tomes as an intermediate.

And yes, some of the tomes don't work in BGII because their item types are set wrong...

You can always use the potion-swap trick to make the tomes work. It works even if they're not identified.

Well, that's as blatant as cheating can get, and I dunno why you're bothering with all this roundabout way, when you could just give yourself 25 in all your stats with Shadowkeeper. :p

    But, you asked, so...

Let us assume that your standard, plain vanilla Fighter with 3 INT, wants to use a scroll of Timestop. AND he has a potion of say...extra healing in his inventory as well.

What you do, is pause the game. Go to your inventory screen. Right click the potion of extra healing. Click on the "Drink Potion" button on the bottom right of the screen. Go back to the main inventory screen. Remove the potion from that slot of the inventory, and place the scroll of Timestop in the EXACT SAME SLOT. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT.

And then you just go back to the game screen, and unpause...and voila...your Fighter casts Timestop!!

This way of abusing the game engine and using items you are normally not supposed to, is called the Potion Swap Trick.

I have Tome of Retroacive Convineice (sp?) (SixofSpades tm) wich is one book but increases all the stats as books in BG1 do so it`s like importing a char from Bg1 to Bg2. I can send it to you if you wish.
