stupid demon ritual

Hi,
Just a little question,searched the forums
but didnt really find an answer.Can you use
the console to restart the demon ritual in the underdark or reset phaere or sumthink cause i
fcked up big time,and now the ritual wont start.
Mother Ardulace and Phaere cant be talked to anymore.

Phaere is still at postion in Female fighter guild even though i had the dialog about the ritual,the annoying brat wont leave.Yes i know i shoulda saved but i dint ok,and i dont like going back hours,we've all been there.
I'm playing a second time through BG and wanted to try the evil approach and give the 'real eggs' to demon lord and kick Adalon's dragon butt,i guess i could just take the real eggs to Adalon but i wanted a try at kickin demon butt.Has anyone else experienced this bug before?

 

Okay, there's a couple possibilities.

1. Duplicate Phaere - I run into this all the time, where there ends up being more than one Phaere, starting at different times. It really doesn't do much, but you may be thrown off by having one Phaere still being at the Female Fighter Society, while the one you talked to actually did go to the temple and is there now. It can be a little confusing, but all you should have to do is go and talk to the Phaere at the temple (next to Matron Ardulace) and things should proceed from there.

2. Wrecked dialogue file, likely from a mod conflict - If she said...

...but nothing's happened yet, then the cutscene that should have fired must have failed for some reason. You may (I'm not 100% sure, but it's worth a try) be able to trigger it with this command:
CLUAConsole:StartCutScene("Cut44q")

incidentally i tried sumthin else,i killed mother
Ardulace.

They all went hostile of coruse,but apparently she has a key i think cause afterwards
i could open the door to demon ritual place and the demon lord was there,only he kept whining about been giving false eggs,thats all he said over and over again.

Shame cause i really wanted to upset Adalon.
So i killed his demon butt,i expected him to be much harder oh well,he died fast.Poor excuse for a demon lord if u ask me.

 

In an ironic twist, I have just run into this very same bug in my own game. Naturally I have a slew of earlier saves I could simply revert to, but I decided to play through it to help anyone else who had the same problem in the future and weren't so careful about saving.

What happened to me was that I sent Imoen to Phaere to give her Sola's eggs, and her "receiving eggs" dialogue went fine. Then all of a sudden it goes into cutscene mode but nothing happens for about two seconds. Next, I get a nice shadowed view of the outside of the Female Fighter Society and Adalon's imp starts talking to my monk, who I left at the entrance to the temple.

When all that's over, Phaere is still sitting in the FFS, but I figure she'll just appear in the temple if I leave, so I go into the temple. Phaere is nowhere to be found, and Matron Ardulace is right where she usually is if you want to betray Phaere to her. I try to talk to her, but she "has nothing to say to you". So I head back to the FFS and talk to Phaere again, and she gives me the line quoted in my post above, the cutscene triggers, and she moves up to the little pit inside the FFS. And now she has nothing to say to me either.

THE PROBLEM: Phaere's orders for the ritual's beginning are only a JumpToPoint, with no area check to make sure that she's actually in the temple. With the area move disrupted by the imp's instant Dimension Door (since I think he only checks that Phaere isn't near the main character and not that she has left the FFS), her script is not correctly applicable.

THE SOLUTION: Go to the temple and input these two commands:
CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("UDPHAE01")
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("udDrowPlot","GLOBAL",19)
Then talk to the Phaere you have created. She should give you the 'ritual is about to begin' line again, and you'll pop into the chamber with her and Ardulace. The rest can proceed from there.

THE ADMONITION: Don't give the eggs to Phaere unless your main character is in the same room with her. For good measure, make sure your whole party is in there; you can never be too careful about bugs.

EDIT:
A little quirk I noticed when I tried it is that when I entered the temple again after Phaere's erroneus 'ritual start', Matron Ardulace started the ritual from her room on the west side of the temple. She summoned the demon up in the summoning room (which it sounds like she must have for mrhelpfull too) and then shut up. So I used the method I outlined above, and Ctrl-Yed the demon, thinking that a new one would take its place when Ardulace completed the ritual again.

Well, she didn't. There was none of the white stuff that's usual for her spell, and the demon refused to reappear. Apparently, there's a 'demonsummoned' variable or some such, limiting you to one demon per customer. I ended up having to CLUA another demon back in, and he spoke as usual, with the ceremony going fine after that. Now, I'm sure it would have gone just fine if I'd left the demon well enough alone, but nooooOOOOoooo, I had to get creative. So kids, don't Ctrl-Y those demons unless they're hiding under your bed.
