Hey people, I aam thinking about starting a human cleric in a game based in Greyhawk. I am thinking of following Kord as his deity with a standard 32 point statistic spread. Str-16 Dex-10 Con-14 Int-10 Wis-14 Cha-14. Any advice?

I'd lower Strength from 16 to 14 and Charisma from 14 to 12 to spend those 4 extra points to raise your Wisdom to 18. As a cleric those extra bonus spells might come in handy...

Yeah, boost Wis. If not for extra spells, then think of the DC for your spells :)

It isn't necessary to lower the stats. If you want cleric, who is stronger and more charismatic, keep those stats. If you want cleric who is good spellcaster, put some points more in wisdom.

Think what kind of character you want :)

Baldrak, you're a bit off. In point buy mode, stats start at 8 and you buy the extras where 15-16 costs 2 points each, and 17-18 costs 3 points each.

To me the character seems fine.

I think a perfect starting Wisdom for a Cleric is 15. It's above average, but you have a lot of room to grow (as your character becomes more in touch with his/her deity).

It's also the minimum Wisdom requred, assuming you ad +1 to it every 4 levels, to cast the highest level spells.

Anyway, if you're going for Kord (the deity of brawling), I'd say go with a Half-Orc. Screw turining undead, smash 'em instead! You don't need INT or CHA.

I'd also suggest 1 level of barbarian, for the better weapon selection (Kord's favored weapon is the Greatsword). Take the Luck and Strength domains.

I would suggest a good Dexterity (12) since wielding a greatsword (assuming you're doing that) cuts down on your AC, and as a Cleric, you naturally have poor Reflex saves. It also helps with initiative - what good is a spellcaster if he can't get his spells in early?

That asides, I agree with everyone else that Wisdom needs an upper. Charisma is fine as it is - 14 is very strong, and should prove handy versus undead.

(One note: why is it that so many PCs have all even stats? I mean, would it kill you to spice up things with some odd numbers?)

Thanks everyone, i agree the dex should be bumped up at the expense of charisma. I was thinking of mixing a few fighter or barb levels in somewhere so wisdom vs spell levels shouldn't be a problem except for DC's.... most likely fighter because of the low dex. I fully agree that strength and luck are the pick of domains possible.
    Cheers.

Keep in mind that for some feats (you might be interested as a fighterlike cleric) you need 13 dex and 13 int.
