    [​IMG] While reading some posts I noticed a phrase that doesn't really belong in Faerûn but belongs in the Wheel of Time world. This phrase being "Blood and Ashes" quoted by Syl. :cool:

    I struck me that CRPG and fantasy books seem to go hand in hand. Not counting the Forgotten Realms series I wonder how many other fantasy series people here read?

    If you explore the message boards a little more thoroughly, you'll find an area called 'Whatnots', where there is an open thread referring to this very same topic. On the previous page, in the lower-right corner, you'll find a drop-down menu listing various games as well as the whatnots board.

    As far as quotes are concerned, I always liked Sparhawk's 'neighbor'. (David Eddings' Elenium and Tamuli trilogies)

    Me too... I've got hundreds of Fantasy paperbacks and over a hundred leather bound SF signed by the author.

    Currently I just bought the second in David Farland's "Runelords" series and am just finishing up the reread of the first one...

    The Saga of Recluce is amazing, but I like Magic of Recluce the best.

    Blood and ashes is not exactly a WoT phrase, it is recorded as having been the major expletive in the Dark Ages because real expletives could get you branded!

    Another favorite quote of mine can be found in the first chapter of the Hobbit. After Bilbo freaks out and screams "Struck by lightning", Gandalf says, "Excitable little fellow, gets funny queer fits." Followed by "Fierce as a dragon in a pinch"

    Oh man, how I love that story...

    Some of Salvatore's books are quite alright. Especially for a bit of relief after reading some heavier, more intense fantasy.

    Granted, Salvatore isn't on the same level as Tolkien, Tad Williams, or Robert Jordan, but they are good. I found a new soft spot in my heart for halflings while reading his books.
