    Do you have any downloaded portraits?

    First, go into your Baldur's Gate file (C:bad:Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate) and create a new folder (right click, select new, then file) and name it Portraits.

    Second, if you do have d/l portraits, click on the zipped file and click Extract. You'll get a thingy asking you where to send the portraits - C:bad:Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Portraits. Click OK box. The file(s) will extract to where you sent them.

    Start a game and create a character. For your picture, click on custom and you should have a listing of the portrait(s) you installed. Click on the file name and see if that is the picture you want. When you have a large and small picture, click okay and continue making your PC.

    Yes, listen to Kuemper! She's wise, intelligent AND if you don't she gonna eat your soul :p

    The portrait won't be added as a "main portrait", but will be as a custom. So, press custom underneath the picture in the portrait selection screen, and you will have a list of choices for the Larger picture in the records screen, and the smaller presented on the right UI.. Please note that you want the pictures to match :p

    Didn't the portrati pack you downloaded come with a readme?

    "There are two little arrows on either side of the picture (in character creation) that you can change it with if you have no custom portraits."

    Oh shut up; they probably already know that! :roll:

    But in case you want to make your own custom pictures (say, from drawings or scanned images) make sure to shrink them down to the appropriate sizes: 38 * 60 for small & 110 * 170 for large.

    Also, do not start your game up until you've extracted the pictures into the Portraits folder; if you do, it won't recognize them until you quit and restart.

    Keep in mind that you can also change your portrait in the middle of the game by this method:
    </font>
    1. Go into the record screen by pressing R or clicking on the "Record" button.
    2. Click the "Customize" button near the bottom.
    3. Click the "Appearance" button.
    4. Proceed as you would in the character creation screen.
    That's pretty much everything you need to know about portraits that hasn't already been covered. Have fun!
