Have any of you actually gone out and purchased a sword or armor? I've been kicking the idea around for some time because my Highlander Letter Opener just ain't cutting it (excuse the pun).

    Just found this link:
    link

This is the "Lord of the Rings Sword" and sounds pretty cool. It actually falls into the "functional blades" category.

Has anyone else gone over the edge (another pun) and bought one of these?

(Easier on the eyes, not to mention frame size).

If I found a daikatana at a reasonable price, I would buy it without hesitation. Same goes for a heronmark. :) I'd better avoid certain shops lest I lose the money that is supposed to be paying off my debts.

I have a very nice katana that was left in a house after we bought it. I have no idea how long it was in a cabinet under what is now my bed, but it is still very sharp. I have spent some time practicing with it (carefully) and I find it an effective way to relieve stress to just go through some steps of some obscure martial arts thing that I bought a book about. It is kinda tai-chi with a sword. Luckily, the place I do this is in africa so I dont have the problem with some cop driving by and wondering what a 14 year-old kid is doing with a very sharp sword.

I like todays weapon better. I borrowed my friends double-barelled shotgun yesterday. Saturday I will go shooting clay-pigeons (the best translation I found) for five hours. After a whole summer of work, I will buy my own shotgun, and perhaps a .22 Long Rifle too.

[IMG] I have a bastard sword, and a Scottish Claymore. There are some pretty nice fantasy ones on that link though...

[IMG] Did I ever mention that I like the "bastard" in the bastard sword? It has a nice attitude.

About the LoTR sword, it looks like something is wrong with it. I wouldn't actually buy a sword online. For example, I can't be sure if the handle is actually as round as it looks, nor can I be sure of its heft and weight just by looking at the picture. I mean, even a meat cleaver is considered functional.

Hey Bel, do you know how to use the Claymore? Any pointers? :D

Probably not for buying, only for carrying around.
