[IMG] Anyone else lose the little text file that remembers what your login and password are for sorcerer's ?
It was working fine earlier today but suddenly it was gone and my machine didn't know my password. :(
Had to get the system to email me with the details. DOH.

Seeing as I got your attention :p

For one dollar you can save all your trouble, in the future. Buy a notebook and write down all your codes. Keep it next to your computer. Easy huh? Don't tempt a computer's stability. :)

...kind of makes me think of all the "very secret" administrator passwords that are neatly written down on post-it notes and placed carefully near all the "very well protected" computers out there... :p

A little black booklet with passwords, usernames, IDs, codes etc. is a necessity for anyone in this line of work (read, webmastering). I've recently copied all of them from my last one, which was full of irrelevant, dead, not functioning etc. usernames and passwords, rechecked it and written it nicely in categories this time. It's amazing how fast I can find those passwords now... ;)

But I guess anyone can figure this neat system out if they steal the booklet. Before I organized it, even I had some trouble decyphering all the side notes, appendices, strike-outs, double passwords and so on. That was damn good protection. :square:

I reuse the same password as much as possible, which makes them easier to remember. I'm not always behind the same computer, and having to carry a notebook around isn't very tempting. I think I have like 3 passwords total. One for IRC and webboards, one number code for those magnetic cards, and one for e-mail.

I used to have another password a year ago, but I used that one only as a means to finally start remembering the car's license plate number :p

[IMG] All of my usernames have a clue to the password, for example this p/w has somethig to do with the sterophonics. (I wont say no more for fear of everyone knowing my password)
    It simple and effective

my suggestion - become a child

all children have selective memory (me being one currently) meaning they remember what they want to remember (which for me includes passwords) and nothing else.

I have that problem too, not so much at home, but at work mostly. I do like most everyone esle does and just use a few passwords for everything to make it easy to remember (my short term memory is lacking), but at work it becomes even more difficult because i have 2 passwords to try and remember, which wouldnt be so bad if i didnt have to change them every few months!!

Never write your password down. For when you are to stupid to remember your password, you will also loos such password. And when you have it in a hidden map on your PC, you will forget in what map it was stored :) Chaneg your password in: ialwaysforgetmypassword :)

I have nearly the same password everywhere. I have two passwords, that have only a one-character difference...

And I always use the net in shared computers... too bad.

I use the same password for everything, otherwise I do forget, but I certainly don't tell anyone or write it down; it's safe, and I have a great memory. :D
