[IMG] My character can't seem to heal fast enough and I don't think it is damage taken from enemies that is causing the problem. I thought it was a cursed sword at first but even after I got rid of it, this strange thing is occuring. He is self healing but not fast enough.
When I rest in an Inn it helps but not enough. He starts building up to his healthy self and at some point (I can't determine when) boom his hit points are way down again. Everytime I load to play again the number is getting smaller and smaller. Pretty soon I'm afraid he will just waste away. Any ideas what might be wrong?

    What's your character's con score?

With a very high Con, you will get a character with low hit points getting a load more after a re-load. Maybe yours is too low, and goes the other way.

Sure you can. Just start a game, find and use the tome of bodily health and import that char into a new game and do the same routing for about 8 times.

true. A bit excessive, but possible I guess. I was wondering if it was done with a saved game editor like Shadowkeeper. The reason his hit points keep regenerating is the high Con. The reason they go down after a re-load could be because the game is restoring the default hit points he 'should' have, before his Con was altered. Either way, I think the source of the problem is in the excessively high constitution.

Actually I did use an editor. He didn't start losing his points until Beregost. I don't lose the point when I reload a saved game unless I've quit the game. Yesterday I quit and he had 16,319 out of 25,000. When I started today he had dropped to 10,203. Over 6,000 points gone. Yet this hasn't happened from the beginning, just since Beregost. Yes, I know it's a bit overkill but I really hate dying.

Try using that editor to drop your Con. Bring it down to 18-20. It might not clear the problem, but see if the hit point drop is as dramatic as previously.

How about this for a solution, it is similar in effect to what you want: use your editor to set your character's resistances to 127 (max), then the only things that can do damage to you are bare fists, poison, and one trap I know of so far. Then set your hp's to a max of 5000, and lastly, keep your 25 con.

When you load your game each time, you will start with the hp's that you would have for your character's class, level, and con, and with the 25 con, you will regenerate to 5000 just going from one area of the map to the other or by resting a few times.

Be careful though, that you don't get in a fight with a spit-load of gibberlings with a bunch more hobgoblins that use poison arrows while at full hp's, is a slow, painful way to see your character die, lol.

I'm not sure what the maximum hit points are for the game (did you install the high level mods), but you may be too high and the game engine is just not accepting it. The max could be 256, anything above that the game engine may treat as temporary -- with a 25 con you should never fall very low. You could cheat yourself the +2 plate armor, a nice shield, a 25 DEX, etc. and nothing would hit you.

Why not just cheat-kill everything? That's basically what you're doing now....

Maybe you have some item (helmet or others) that gives you extra HP. When you load the game the HP given by the item is lost (at least this used to happen with me).
As for the cheating, i think that giving yourself god-like stats takes all the fun of the game...but hey that's your call.

EDIT: i've thought more about your problem and re-read your post and i came to believe that my possibility isn't the solution to your problem...maybe...

wait wait wait. You're character has 25,000 hit points??? even with a con of 25 you cant get that many. If you edited the saved game to get that many then you have the problem right there. When the game loads, it isnt giving you full health since it is distributing hit points based on your Con. Drop your hit points back down to what they should be, and see if you still suffer from this problem. I'm guessing you wont.

Okay, I edited the character before I began using him. I imported him and began the game with the excessive hit points. Now I was going to try and lower that as was suggested but where do I find the file to edit? It isn't with the other character files and when I look in the sub folders no *.cha files are found. So just how do I edit him now? Where does the game store a character you are playing?

By the way I think I was using the editor from TeamBG. Does that sound plausible? Anyway it said to export a charater then edit him and then to import him in when you start a new game. I exported him the the Character Folder and then imported him.

Yeah, you cant edit a character file until you export it. That would mean you would have to start over. I'm not sure if there is a program like shadowkeeper for BG that can be used. Others might know, because that allow you to edit the saved game, and alter your character there.

There was a program called GateKeeper, and an alternative called SwordCoastKeeper, which could be used to edit games like Shadowkeeper.

I don't remember the URLs offhand but try http://modlist.pocketplane.net , it may well be there. :)

The HP thing does sound like the game's trying to give you a plausible amount, yeh. Even when cheating I don't see why you'd need that many...

I downloaded the Editor from this website (thanks) and used it to bring the character's hit points down to 500 and this seems to have worked. Thanks everyone for the input and help. I was obviously a bit too over zealous in my first edit.
