Just a quick question I can't really answer: My pally uses a bastardsword with or without shield.

Since I have expertise: b'sword and str-16 (= +3) my pally deals out 1d10+5 damage per hit - three from strength, two from expertise.

However, that doesn't change when I use the weapon without a shield - two-handed he should deal out 1d10+6 damage (adding the +1/2 str-modifier).

So can you only use a bastardsword single-handed in NWN ?
(actually the calculation and animations both imply that but I wanted to ask anyway ... )

I think it depends on your char's race/size. If you were a halfling, you would probably use a bastard sword two handed. It mentioned something about that in game, but doesn't really apply to my chars, so I wasn't paying attention.

Despite my reputation of favouring halflings generally and halfling paladins and thieves especially I play a normal sized human paladin this time so size shouldn't be a problem here ;)

Maybe I should have asked straight: "Can you use a b'sword two-handed in NWN?"

first halfling cant use bastard sword because it is too large for him

second that player sheet ALWAYS shows THAC0
(+?) wrong sometimes it showed me +1 once in a while my real +3 and even +4
shame is that I dont know if it makes any diference in the game. If it does just try reloading till you get your right +number

[IMG] THACO is no more - 3e just uses an attack bonus which has to reah or beat the target's AC. So simple.

The point is that a bastard-sword is not named bastard sword because it has no parents but because it is in size somewhere inbetween a (one-handed) longsword and a two-handed-sword. It is also often referred to as a 1 1/2-handed sword since you can both use it single and one-handed, that's why it is considered an exotic weapon in 3e.

And my question was if a human-size char can use a b'sword two-handed in NWN.

No. The Bastard Sword is a one-handed weapon in NWN.
