    [IMG] Hi.
I just bought 2 copies of the Diamond edition. One is for my husband, so we can group up together online. It would be fun to be able to do this. Placing the disc in the DVD drive does nearly nothing. I get the little whirling disc attached to the cursor. It tries to start, but it's as if the drive isn't able to read it. I tried both discs, same problem. Once I got the autostart window......sort of. It also whirled around endlessly. My comp meets the basic requirements, and my drivers are updated. Both these discs can't be compromised, or whacked out, can they? I'm able to run ToEE no problem. I'm using windows XP with Service pack 2........Anyone else have trouble like this? I'm so bummed. I can't play. Bah.

Can you read other DVD disks? It could be that you got a CD drive and not a DVD drive.

You could have a problem with a copy protection system. If you can read other DVDs without a problem, disable the autoplay option in your DVD player. Then insert the disk and explore it from My Computer. If you can see the disk files, run the installation program from there.

Thanks folks, for your help :) .
Turns out that it was a hardware problem. My computer is suffering from ancient DVD drive disease. My husband surgically removed the offending drive, and a transplant will occur later today. We found a much younger donor, courtesy of the Best Buy geek squad.
    Hail and well met,
    Shae

    Success!
The new DVD drive solved the problem. Now I have new problems, but it isn't with running the game anymore. It's trying to figure out how to unlock those stubborn locked houses that my rogue can't break into, and what are those tattered notes for!
    All the best, Shae.

Unless the doors are warded, you should be able to bash the doors. As for the tattered notes, I'm not sure which you are referring to, but usually stuff like that is quest-related. Did you read them? What do they say?

Oops, I guess I've done the whole module backwards..... I began everything in Beggar's Nest, instead of the Penninsula, so I just found the archaeological site. It's the Tomb of Never quest.
Which I'm still trying to complete, but I can't seem to find the door with the chest I need to place the sword in down in the aqueducts area...........BUGGER!

The other doors that you cannot open. They are part of a quest only available to magic users, ie Wizard etc. They cannot be opened otherwise.
Regarding the sword, IIRC, do you talk to little girls?

@The Magister: I don't know what might your issue be; but when I had Diamond edition, I couldn't go beyond the Play button screen, the game won't load.
    This solution helped me:

Also, if this doesn't work for you (remember that you have to run Windows in SAFE mode, if don't, it won't work) there are others topics there with the same problems and other workarounds.
