    I thought something was behaving strangely after I installed SoU. Then I saw it in the "hint" screen.

    "Area of effect spells will never hurt neutral commoners."

    Well that's annoying. Makes it hard to be sadistically evil doesn't it?

    Now the good wizard can have a battle in the middle of a crowded city and mindlessly fling fireballs and cloudkill spells around without a thought to killing innocents. Its too easy.

    Does anyone know if there's a way to turn that feature off?

    [IMG] What? That's crazy! Who would think that was a good idea?

    We're all suppose to play in a no PvP mode now I guess. The way to turn it off is to add a line in the module on load script.
    Code:
    SetLocalInt(GetModule(), "X0_G_ALLOWSPELLSTOHURT", 10)
    And this will allow AOE spells to hurt anyone again

    [IMG] Wouldnt it be easy just to turn to most difficult lvl? It works vr well since ur fireball hurt yourself when it explodes near you(the caster)

    You have to wonder at the mentality of the game designers that they think casting a fireball in a crowded area and not hurting innocent bystanders is a good idea.

    I think this change is due to PC (Political Correctness). There has been talk about it being immoral to make a game where you can hurt or kill civilians, especially children.
    You can "roleplay", but you aren't allowed to roleplay anything outside the boundaries of current ethics.

    Just like the whole children are invulnerable thing in IWD2.

    While I'm not sure if the designers were trying to be PC or make it more convienient, it is possible to turn off the feature.

    Possibly with the children they were trying to avoid some of the issues that went along with Fallout? But I thought that was more to do with the drugs than the violence...
