Ok just wondering about duel wielding.

    Is it worth it?

At the moment my Ranger is using long bow or duel wielding a long sword and a scimitar but playing around last night a dagger/long sword seemed to be the best combination (of the weapons I had) to use for the biggest attack bonus (I think its called attack skill, its listed under your character sheet).

Do you think its better having more damage (2 long swords/scimitar) or more attack skill (Dagger/long sword)?

Or do you think its better not duel wielding at all and going sword/shield?

Wanted my ranger to be more of a Drizzt style (2 scimitars :)).

Also anyone had any success at creating a archer ranger? I started off my ranger to be more of a archer than anything else but found Bows to be pretty useless so far (damage wise).

    Thanks

go for more attack. It is much more worth it. If you get an extra hit in thats lets say 9 damage. But the extra damage gives you like 2 more. So it is worth it.

But what I do is equip a medium in main hand and an exotic light one in my off hand. So most of the time im doing bonus damage and extra attack.

I'm playing sword and sheild - it takes a bit longer to kill things, but my AC is so high that not many creatures can actually damage me. That fits the character that I want (Elven cleric).

I've set up a few different weapons combo's on the quickbar, and switch according to what is coming at me. You could use the light offhand weapon for enemies that will be hard to hit, where you need the to hit bonus, and switch to a heavier weapon if you think they will be easy to hit.

Bows arent useless, you just need someone else to hold them off while you shoot them, a tough henchman or animal companion. Or again, use the quickbar, and get a few shots off before they reach you, then switch to your dual swords.

For dual wielding, what dex and str did you start out with? I'm currently playing a dual wielding ranger, but I still haven't decided what would be best for those stats.

If you chose more dexterity you can just learn the feat that allows hit chance to depend on dex. It comes in handy for characters that wanna be fighter mages so they can keep the stregnth stat low.

That feat is called Weapon Finesse, but it only applies to light weapons (e.g. dagger, handaxe, kama, rapier, short sword, unarmed strike, etc). So using a longsword or schimitar would still use the STR modifier and not DEX for attack rolls. And damage is always calculated using STR, even if you have this feat. So, don't skimp too much on STR. But Dex is an important stat for Rangers (especially for archer types) so keep it as high as you can.

Hmm starting stats cant remeber what I went with now.

    Somthing like 14/16/13/11/11

Going to restart I think (only lvl 6) because I just been taking any old skill and not thinking about it :)

What damage mod (if any) does Bow use? Is it DEX?

    Thanks
