[IMG] Everyone goes after my mage. Even if I put five blockers up front 2 or 3 block them in and the rest surround my mage and kill her. The only way she live is to back off so she can't get into the battle. All she can do is summon and send them in with the blockers. If she can't fight with good spells without getting killed what good is having a mage? Is there a strategy to stop this? (This is in heart of fury mode with spells like the touch spells or any other that has to get in good and close the only defense she has is 7 eyes.)

I've never encountered this problem, but I've never played in Heart of Fury mode either. Sounds like you have to learn to live with the problem. Will the monster go after the mage even if they start attacking your fighters at first?

Your fighters go into to the fight 5-10 paces in front of your mage (and cleric if you think he's unable to take care of himself). Put protections on him (Stoneskin, etc.).
Actually, I prefer to have my mage far away from the rest while he still has protections so I can use spells like Abi-Dhalzim's Horrind Wilting, Malavon's Rage; the kind of spells that usually do damage to my party as well.

[IMG] Yes my first level mage casting stoneskin and Abi Dalzim.... :p

For low level mages I just hold them behind untill round two or something. When the mosnter and "blockers" have rumbled up. I always keep the missile user(s) one step ahead of my mage. I use MirrorImage alot. Just for safety.

For middle level. I cast haste to make him faster. I also keep him out of the party's first round of combat and an archer just a step ahead. Try making him invisible too. The second level spell.

For High level mages possible IWD2 or HoW use Corr RAven's strategy.

It's just that I'm bull headed. I like to go in swords swinging and arrows flying. If Icewind Dale had barbarians I'd have 6 of them attack every thing in site.
