[IMG] i think the opposition schools for specialist mages in how are a bit too taxing. I just got the game and will start a new game with both installed (i want how installed for the resolution, items etc..).

So, I'm really undecided now as to which specialist to pick or not to pick one at all. What do you suggest i do ? I might go with a straight mage. Or which specialist seems to be the best along with a bard (i'll have one).

A diviner seems like the best choice as i see it.

As an (cheesy :) ) alternative, is there someway i can change the opposition schools back to what they were in iwd ? Maybe all i have to do is just erase a specific file from the override folder or so i figure.

    thanks

As your nick, I like the invoker. Nothing's like a big, fat (and then extra strong) fireball on those pesky lizards or whatever. You miss the summoning, but I say bring a cleric and let him summon a bunch or two of skeletons instead. Other than that I don't think you miss much with an invoker.

[IMG] Why not take a Necromancer? I took one with my party and he had a great balance of attacking, summoning, and restraining spells. Get Agannazar's Scorcher well stocked up to finish off the numerous 'almost dead' Trolls. Chuck in a couple of Monster Summoning spells, to keep your enemies busy whilst you mash 'em up. And the all important Grease, to give you those vital extra rounds in combat. Anything else is just cosmetic really, you shouldn't need any protection spells. (Well I didn't anyway.) You miss out on the Charm school, but in my opinion it's the weakest school in THIS game.

well, after pondering this issue for a while, whereas i should've worked on my homework instead :), i said.. enough what the heck and decided to pick the one i like roleplaying the most. An invoker with an attitude problem it is hehe.

As i see it, whichever specialty school you pick, you get to loose some cool spells. So, you definitely need a second (again an opposing specialist to the first as mentioned)or a backup mage like a bard, in which case the specialty school of the first doesn't really matter.

Necromancers loose illusion as well. Mirror image can be a lifesaver at times. If my char was evil, i'd definately go for necromancy.

Anyways thanks for the input. Still, i'd like to hear which specialty schools people like. 3rd ed is a blessing indeed, gives you much more freedom in many areas.

    In Iwd

    I used a Conjurer and a Invoker,
    a thief, a fighter, a cleric, and a paladin.

    In How

    I used

Bard (HOW made them alot better)
Ranger (new skills to try out and liked them)
Fighter D/c to thief Level 11(same fighter from IWD)
    Celric (same one from IWd)

Im sooo sorry if my mistake, made you change your mind or change a decision or something.

    :( :shame:
