Any upcoming games like IWD?

[IMG] While I like the role-playing aspects of BG1 & 2 with all the interesting characters that can join your party, I LOVE the ability in IWD to create an ENTIRE party of your own specifications from the very beginning of the game.

What I'd love even more would be a IWD type game that would allow you to generate your entire party using the kits and new classes used in BG2. Think of the parties you could form... Monks, Barbarians, dc-kensai/mages(or thieves), etc. fighting along side one another. Not only would we be able to create some interesting combinations of parties and try out some of the classes we've left unused in the past, but we'd be able to test out for ourselves which class "rules" more instead of argueing about it on the BG2 board. :)

I know that you can technically do what I'm asking in BG2 by starting a "single-player" multi-player game, but then you need to give up some of the quests that only occur when you have certain members in your party, as well as give up the romances and such. Not to mention, it'd be a shame, IMHO, to play BG2 without Minsc and a few of the others in your party.

So has anyone heard anything about a possible sequel to IWD, or any other game that'll include the new classes and allow the creation of an entire party?

i think there is a game much like IWD and already available. i'm talking of fallout tactics: brotherhood of steel. though you won't get to cast a spell that would disentigrate your enemy to pieces, you still got the choice of sticking a spear up your enemy's arse.

I guess you know about the add-on for Icewind Dale that is out in the US and due soon in Europe. If not check out the rest of this site. You also mention about the BG2 singleperson/multiplayer option. I see you're point about having to have some of the NPCs for their quests and romances. However, maybe you could still run a party with five of your own creations then add in the NPC one at a time. Complete their quests, drop them and recruit the next NPC. Not an ideal solution but....

Just thought I would add in a vote for Fallout Tactics: BOS. I am playing that right now and it is great!! No roleplaying really unlike the other fallouts, other than creating and custimizing your own character and party. But the gameplay is great and the missions (while mostly being similar seek and destroy, pillage and plunder) are alot of fun.
