I just purchesed the game and I can't seem to get the game started. I get rhough the intro and character genreation. However, once I finish creating my party and press done the game crashes without an error. Did anyone else experience this problem and if so was there anything you do did to correct the problem. I've tried everything listed on the official web site. In addition I tried getting in touch with BIS directly with no success so they were of no help.

    I am using:
ATI RAge MAxx 64M Graphics Card
Creative Sound Blaster Live Sound Card

    Thanks,
    Pooba

Crashing problems are usually caused by 2 things:

    1) You need to update the game, i.e. install the latest (v1.06) patch for the game.

    2) Check the websites for your video and sound cards, and see if there are any updated drivers. Out of date drivers are by far the most common cause of game crashes.

If you find updated drivers and install them successfully, you should then re-install DirectX, and try the game again.

If upgrading drivers doesn't resolve the problem, try closing down all other programs you might have running (especially anti-virus software), and if things get really extreme, disabling hardware might become the answer.

    Hope this helps,

I've done all that. I am a gaming veteran and have tried all the usuals. To update me previous post, I have completely updated all my drivers on all my devices including my bios is completely up to date. The Official Site seemed to indicate a global problem with other users and seemed to be having. They seemed to indicate that it was a problem with the sound card from Creative and Dimond but there advice didn't help one bit. It is definetly a global problem and not something specific to my computer, I am just checking to see if any other people who had this problem initially were able to solve it.

    Thanks,
    Pooba

I have ATI Rage AGP Turbo, and have not experienced any problems. My soundcard is ESS, though.

Perhaps you bought a faulty copy of the game. A manufacturers defect. See if you can trade it in for another copy.

[IMG] I used a Creative Soundblaster Live sound card and had no problems. My only problem lay in that annoying paused movie at the beginning of Chapter 6 (which turned out to be a pretty crazy fix, thanks again Logun)

    Cheers
