I have the 2 disc game.

It's been almost years since I've played through this game. I just reciently got an urge to try it again, so I installed it. I then proceeded to do that trick with copying the files from the CD to speed up the gameplay (plus to cu down on the obnoxious noises of my CDROM) but I ran into a problem. When I try to copy the file AR1800.cbf I get some kind of MSDOS error or somthing (odd because this my OS is XP) and I can't copy the file. The other files copied fine.
I tried to copy the CD to see if that would help, but then I would get CRC errors on the file.

Is there anyone who can send me this one file? I don't think there would be anything illegal about this, I don't know.
You can email it to me or host it somwhere, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Is your computer at least somewhat modern? I never had any gameplay speed problems and never did this trick.

My gameplay speed has never ben a problem, my problem is the CD has somthing wrong with it and I can't get the file... I figured out it's the area of TNO's journal room in the catacombs. When I go into this room, It tells me to enter the CD, even though it's in the drive. I'd like to contiue, so I hope I can get the file soon.

I've got AR1800.bif, but this is from the 4 CD version of the game. I assume .cbf is compressed bif, so I'm not sure if my uncompressed file would do you any good...

    How big is the file?
When I look at the INI settings, it lists locations for cd's 1-4. Maybe the game still has the capacity to read the older files.
Try to zip or rar it, see if it's a decient size and try sending it my way. I'd really like to continue the game.

If Tal's file doesn't work, check your email. I have the 2CD version and the file with precisely the name you mentioned. It's almost 4 megs, so if you don't need it you might want to delete my email without downloading it.

Help, I have the same problem -- 2 CD version and ar1800.cbf both crashes the game and won't copy from the CD. I decided to do a full install and found that ar2000.cbf also won't copy. Can someone send me copies of those files? Thanks a lot.

I registered just to make a topic like this, actually. I too have the 2-CD version. My bad files are AR 405.cbf, AR903.cbf, and AR1400.cbf.

Well, I only have the 4 CD version, so someone else will have to play the good Samaritan...
