I was mostly addressing the comment re: buying it "when the price comes down". If you only buy big titles once they're in the bargain bin, this whole thing early access thing obviously isn't for you. Move along, nothing to see here.

Your point is fair, but paying for early access nets you the full game on release day. They're not doing the typical Electronic Arts thing where they sell you an incomplete game as a polished title... all the warnings are right there on the packaging. I guess I don't understand the indignation I've seen about "paying to beta test". If it's not your thing, don't do it, but if you do it, you've just paid for the full title.

I feel like Larian wants to playtest the mechanics rather than deal with any "bugs". Their last two games were fairly polished as products upon release, but mechanically, they evolved a lot for the better in their respective definitive editions - in no small part, thanks to community input. This is a kind of a game where the implementation of the 5E rules makes or breaks the experience. It seems like a good idea for Larian to allow the more dedicated players to playtest it and give feedback, so that the full game will have the best mechanics for the more casual players to jump into.

As for being chockful of bugs, this beta plays and feels better than most release day AAA titles I've played in the last half a decade.

I haven't had game breaking bugs yet, most of them are visual glitches or performance/frame rate issues. I feel this could be a very dangerous game. I can't stop playing.

I've been watching play vids on youtube. Besides the fact that the players are idiots the game looks really good. I'm just frustrated that my computer is just a tiny bit too old to play it. So instead I'm messing around with Larian's last two games: Divinity: Original Sin and D: OS2. I never completed the first one after I hit a couple road-blocks and couldn't find any way to proceed. The second one I gave up very early after I discovered the silly blind cat. This time around I'm finding that running quests is much more XP important than just random monster mashing. But the games are pretty solid. I'm wondering if BG3 does the same and the quests are as convoluted sometimes.

Why are they idiots? What rights do you have to make those claims? Cool username by the way.

Thanks; and of course they are idiots as a personal opinion. Gamers got a right to game the way they want; even if I think they are idiots. In this case the two I was watching kept switching their characters personality; when it was important to shmooze somebody because they were a potential companion or item-seller they were well-behaved; then as soon as they ran into somebody that they thought didn't matter they were arrogant jerks. One of the guys in his first video commented "I'm not going to reboot from save if I mess something up; just going to play through." Then he promptly did something stupid and got killed - TPK; which according to his own line should have meant that his play through video with that character was done for good; but instead he broke his word and rebooted from the last save before he died. He should have started over with a fresh character and tried to be less of an idiot. :p

Same guy took the games suggestion on character build; he was playing a ranger/archer and it suggested an intelligence of 8 because he self-admittedly wasn't smart enough to know anything about the game mechanics for D&D 5E so of course he kept picking intelligence options and being perturbed because he kept failing them.

Being poor sucks. I've also been furloughed without pay again.
There are plenty of manipulators like this in real life. Kiss up to anybody they can get something from or that can cause them problems, and treat everybody else like dirt to be used and/or abused.

Don't I know it; just that I'd sometimes like to have my lack of faith in human behavior shaken by somebody who isn't naturally a jerk. Or a congenital idiot.
