I have BGEE and IWDEE. I would like to bring IWD portraits into my BG. Anyone have any clues on how to do this?

Custom portraits in IWD-EE have the size of 420x660 (large-character creation and record scren) and 169x266 (medium-right sidebar), while in BG-EE have 210x300 (large-not required-character creation), 169x266 (medium-character record) and 54x84 (small-right sidebar).

For both games you need to place them in the ”Portraits” subfolder of your game installation, with the same naming conventions, and the same file format.

So it is a simple matter of editing the files to resize them, maybe crop some of the images to fit.

The Portraits folder should be (created) in My Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\ with the rest of the user files, not where game is installed. Just to be clear.

Are filenames for portraits still limited to 8.3 characters in EE?

I use this site to automatically retool my images to the correct format and size for use in BG:EE : http://www.notra.fr/portrait.php

as far as the format for portrait names go, i'm unsure if the 8 character limit is still in effect, i adhere to it out of habit anyway.
I do know that you no longer need multiple portraits (large and small) just the large one will suffice.
the last letter in the filename still has to be an "L" though, and it seems the enhanced edition has some problems with any other letters being capitalized other then the size denomination.
(for instance fighterL would work fine, but FighterL would not, unless they somehow fixed this in one of the latest patches.)

I haven't had an issues with uppercase characters. All my files, including portraits, have always used nothing but uppercase letters and worked just fine (including now in 2.3).

For best experience (particularly for people making portrait packs), portraits should probably be added to the table with a LUA file, but it's largely unnecessary.

In the original BG, picking a custom portrait out of a big list is a pain, so I tend to do it with SK nowadays.

Yeah, when i (and some other people that posted about it on the beamdog forums) ran into the problem of the game not recognizing multiple capitalized characters in the image filename it was just after 2.0 had launched, so i kinda assumed they had fixed it by now.
