    I've never really seen the appeal of watching other people play through a game, especially when it's a proper RPG where things constantly change depending on your choices.

    Then you wouldn't mind watching a BG1 and 2 playthrough? Though I agree that the text dialog isn't exactly the most entertaining to watch in a video.

    The BG1 and 2 speedruns are a non-stop source of entertainment, though. BG1 in under 15 minutes, BG2 in under 25 minutes, and ToB in just 5.

    Sometimes it can give you tips for difficult parts, especially when it is hard to describe the timing and actions with words.
    Other times it can show different playstyles.

    Normally I'll look at Gamefaqs first, and only look at a let's play if I can't find anything.

    Oh, there is one other reason.
    If you are thinking of buying a game, it can show you if it looks like something you really want to buy.
    I looked at it to try to figure out if Mass Effect and the X-com remake were a FPS type games or an RPG or otherwise.

    Gameplay trailers, video walkthroughs, and let's plays aren't the same thing. There may be significant overlap, but the reason you watch them is completely different.
