Seeing as I spend over 12 hours a day in front of several screens, designing and making use of high-performance interfaces, and have done so for about 15 years now, I think I understand the dynamics a little better than some random guy making a recommendation to ensure better sales or optometrist who's only concerned about the eye and not the screen. :p

It's not that important in cinematography because the director, camera crew, and post-production editors ensure the information is mostly condensed in one focal point, but you still miss out on a lot of detail if the surface is too large. Movie screens are a typical example of that, especially if you're sitting too close.

To answer your question though, my largest screen is 32", and I'm never more than 10 feet away. It's virtually useless for performing any tasks that demand you make full use of the screen in real time, so I only use it for watching movies/shows and engineering. The others are all 24", and even they sometimes cause me problems when I'm close.

Oh, movie theater screens definitely are too large... personally, I only ever want to sit in the last row because anything closer to the screen is much too close for such a large screen. But average TV screen sizes are much smaller by comparison so unless you get a 60" screen and sit 2m away, you're not likely to run into the problem of not being able to take the whole picture in.

With monitors 24" and larger I personally need to enlarge the text a lot, on everything, if I want to view them from a comfortable distance. Obviously if you're too close, you'll have exactly the problem that you mentioned.

Big difference between tv and monitor screens. My main screen is 27 inch. The tv is 1.5 meter away and tilted so that I look strait at it, trough a gap just wide enough left from my monitor.

I'm gonna upgrade the achievements mod tomorrow and add a few like that that I can remember. If you can come up with any more that aren't already there, let me know.

Heh, I'm not really that interested in forum achievements, I just found it amusing that it goes all the way up to one year, like no one expected the forum to last longer than that. :shake:

Speaking of site updates, I really should update my guild's website. I can never get myself amped to do web design, I just keep putting it off indefinitely when I think of everything else I could be doing. Of course, I don't do anything else, but I totally could be! :D

Ugh, making IE mods is like pulling teeth. Now I remember why I quit all this nonsense in the first place and decided to write my own game engines. :bang:

    I'm a bad Person. :D
Trolled my Nephew by installing difficulty mods for his Skyrim install when he wasn't around.
    Smarter NPC's and Dragons unleveled.
    Deadlier Traps and Diseases.
    And barely visible Trap triggers.

And I spent the last few hours watching him gettin' his virtual Backside handed to him in epic ways.
    He suspects nothing looool.
Keeps thinking because he hit lvl 15 things got difficult on their own. :D

    But he is getting smarter.
No more "Run up in yo spot- like CJ from San Andreas" and whack-whack.
Now it's all out war, pulling all the tricks: Followers, Potions, Scrolls, Magic, Traps, Hit and Run and so on.

    :)

    Happy new year, Magpie.

Personally, I slept through the celebration. Hopefully, another peaceful year is ahead of me.
