Yesterday was "National Tequila Day" -- which I celebrated with Don Julio Anejo. I need to try the 1942....

Oh yes, the Blue Label is outstanding. If I ever win the lottery I'll be changing from Jack (but buying a barrel would still be cool).

Well there is a difference between "cooking" and "baking". I would call that baking Flix, but good for you. Home-made is better than anything.

Yes, well, technically, which only means I'm good at two awesome thing. :p

In other news, can't wait for my interview tomorrow with luck this is going to be the one. No more 7 days week-end, no more going insane out of boredom, and most importantly, disposable income. Woooo. I swear this guy "visa" keeps bugging me about money, he's relentless. I know I made that joke already, but meh, it's good enough to merit a second. Think of it as Flix going into Syndication.

I'm not really sure how to interpret that, Splunge. :p

If home-made means "Not bought at the supermarket but in stead made by anyone, including in-laws" than I suppose it's a dare. And I'll take that dare!

If Home-Made means "made in my home and MY home alone!", than I suppose your in-laws are rather good in the kitchen (at cooking or baking, I should add). Compared to Dice, at least, since she was the one you were talking to. Having tried some of D's recipes, I know she's quite good, so your in-laws may be great.

Either way, I'd like to try your in-laws' home-made food. :D

MoN - the way I read it, assuming it's not just Splunge being Splunge, is that his in-laws cooking is terrible and you put yourself at risk eating there.

Ah! Yeah, that was how I first interpreted it. Then, I started thinking. And when I start thinking, I f**k things up. :D

The way I read it, I think it was probably just Splunge being Splunge. He's very good at himself.

With all the amateur cooking going around, home made is still a lottery.

Traditional Dutch cuisine is, aka mom: Boil it until it is pulp, add salt. Wait for husband and kids to finish eating and bake for yourself.

Same here, 'cept you realise mom's cooking isn't that good and that you can actually cook better then her so you end up preparing your every meal yourself. So yeah, I guess it's nothing like that.:p

I'm not sure if I make traditional Canadian food but my sons friends came lurking around today hoping I would feed them.

I once ate moose meat, it's delicious. :yum: But seriously I'm not sure if there's such a thing as "canadian food" 'cause most "canadian" are descendent of europeans immigrant from the 18th and 19th century. Sure, the newly arrived folks made good use of local fauna and flora to prepare new food, but at the core it's still what they ate in europe.

The son of one of the people in my office apparently spend an hour this morning trying to decide which clothes to wear that would best give the impression that he doesn't care what clothes he wears.

I'm a bit lost on what Hipsters are. I thought they were the ones with the well groomed Dali-mustaches. Do they really make an effort on trying to show they don't make an effort?

Yeah, it's kinda hard to define, so... let's try !

    Hipster, noun or adjective [hɪpstər]
Noun: John is such a hipster
Adjective: That shirt is so hipster

Basically, the so call hipster "movement" is at its core all about the rejection of mainstream culture in any domain, e.g. music, fashion, politics, religion, spirituality, movies, etc. It's mostly applied to young people born in the late 80s to early 90s. Fundamentally it's about mixing the fashion, music, and movie tastes from previous generation's sub-culture, e.g. punk, grunge, hippie, etc. They seek independent, non mainstream alternative to any or all of the previously mentioned area (music, fashion, blah blah let's not list it again). But, since it's mostly about mixing and recycling other sub culture it's heterogeneous by definition and the "movement" itself doesn't really have any broader statement of its own (like the hippie's left wing progressive political view for example). It's core "statement" is to simply reject mainstream. Also the hipster subculture is fairly cynical towards today's world in general. This cynicism is the reason why so many hipster act like they don't care about anything.

As hipsterness (yeah that's not a word, but let's just roll with it) becomes more and more appealing to people it's paradoxically becoming the norm, as such, the number one rule of hipster is to deny being hipster. The number two rule is the rejection of anything mainstream for the sake of rejecting it, regardless of its own merit.

    Hopes that helps ;)

And on that note I bid thee adieu !

PS: As you probably know by now, Flix doesn't really know anything about anything and as such reserves the right to be totally wrong about this.
