A general thread for the 2013 season.

The Oilers had quite an off-season, snagging both Yakupov and Schultz. Schultz has been rocking it in the AHL, exceeding the expectations of loyal Oil fans. And watching Dubnyk steal the starter role from Bernier and running away with it during the Spengler Cup, I'm hopeful that we've found our starter.

One of my remaining concerns are whether our d-man prospects can develop the way we'd like. Colten Tuebert and Martin Marincin have awesome physical assets, but wow ... mentally they've got a long way to go. Oscar Klefbom, hopefully our next Steve Smith but without scoring on himself , was doing fantastic in the Swedish Elite League but then had season ending surgery.

Another concern is we still have a few players that like to mail in on several nights. I'm looking at you Shawn Horcoff and your undeserved contract. I hope to God we use one of our amnesty buyouts on him.

I'm hoping for a playoff spot, and that's probably the most I can hope for this year. My team still has a few baby steps to take.

lol, talk about thread necromancy. I took the non-activity here as a lack of interest and thus didn't bother with a playoff thread. Oh well.

    By the way:

Oilers should be a force next year. Should be... huge problems there if not surely?

As for my Caps... the big story I guess is if we keep Ribiero or not.... but our problems definitely go a lot deeper than that. We need more players who can score, desperately...

Depends on what Craig MacTavish does in the off-season. Need to bring more size and strength to our forward core, and get rid of the dead weight (e.g. Hemsky, Ryan Jones). Also need to shore up our D. The recent signing of Anton Belov is definitely a step in the right direction.

But they tanked like, 4 seasons in a row to get good picks... it's about time they started delivering. If I was an Oilers fan, I know I wouldn't be impressed... I have a bad enough time supporting the perennial playoff chokers:lol:.

I liked the story I heard about Jet Blue, and how the Penguins are considering boycotting the airline. Apparently on a Jet Blue flight from Pittsburgh to Boston, which happened to be carrying a good numbers of reporters from the previous night's playoff game, one of the passengers had a baby with them that was crying. The pilot got on the intercom and said, "I didn't know Sidney Crosby was on this flight!" Obviously that got reported. Of course the Pens can't really say anything about it - they're on the verge of being swept, and they got curb stomped in the two games in Pittsburgh.

I hate to say it, but Boston is a team built to intimidate, slow down, grind down, wear down a more skilled team in the smaller ice surface of the NHL.

Vancouver in 2011, and now this.

Lucic and Chara by themselves would ratchet up that factor for any team. But add in the rest of the Boston core, it gets scary.

To fair to them though, they've got some skill to go with the power and strength, and just enough scoring depth to always make deep playoff runs.

I don't think I was able to take a single breath for the last minute of that game. Great job Bruins. Four more wins to go.
